Requirements
  • A college or university degree in a related field.
  • Five to seven years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Availability for some weekend and evening work throughout the year.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, including admissions travel lasting four to six weeks over the course of a year.
Responsibilities
  • Manage an admissions portfolio and serve as the primary evaluator of applications for admission related to a specific subject area and/or territory.
  • Own a portfolio of master's admissions projects with a high level of authority, which may include marketing and communications, admissions operations, programming and events, strategic partnerships, and work with current student employees.
  • Recruit and/or evaluate applicants for master's admission by interviewing, reading applications, and summarizing evaluations, independently or with some guidance and instruction.
  • Establish and manage partnerships with external constituencies, including colleges and universities worldwide, to build a pipeline of candidates into University of Chicago master's programs.
  • Deliver information sessions and specialized presentations, and participate in virtual and on-campus events for prospective master's students.
  • Conduct college and university visits, attend college fairs, and host presentations virtually or during travel.
  • Maintain relationships with individuals involved in the recruitment process, including counseling students and parents regarding the admission process.
  • Respond to inquiries by phone and email, providing a positive experience for people interacting with the department.
  • Manage student workers and/or full-time staff when assigned.
  • Expand outreach messaging through alumni clubs and special events or reunions, maintain updated alumni contact records, and cultivate new contacts in appropriate industries.
  • Manage a portfolio of prospective students requiring special handling.
  • Manage regional event programming, including receptions and career trek field trips for students.
  • Work independently to expand outreach to employers in the region.
  • Perform other related work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree or higher.
  • A valid United States driver's license.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with Slate customer relationship management system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
