Requirements
  • Must have and maintain a current license and certification as an X-Ray Technologist in accordance with required state regulations.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Knowledge of routine to complex radiologic procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, governmental regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to assist patients with transfers from stretchers or wheelchairs and in emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, document accurately and concisely, prioritize and organize work, monitor work quality, and comply with organizational health and safety policies.
  • High school diploma required.
  • A college or university program certificate, two to four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to four years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, empathetic, accurate, and patient-oriented care and service.
  • Strong critical-thinking, analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, customer-service, and attention-to-detail skills.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of the specified body area requested by the physician.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
  • Move imaging equipment into specified positions; determine exposure factors based on patient and procedure characteristics; and adjust equipment controls to produce images with appropriate detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Practice radiation-protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
  • Perform diagnostic radiology procedures, including operation of the lithotripter and C-Arm.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, and arrange for repairs as needed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and report suspected compliance concerns or violations.
  • Complete annual compliance training and follow applicable laws, regulations, the Solaris Health Code of Conduct, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned.
