Requirements
  • Expertise leading and managing security product engineering teams.
  • Experience building exceptional diverse and inclusive teams.
  • 15+ years of experience in software development, with preferably at least 10 years in building security products. This role requires significant technical depth and breadth.
  • Proven experience building consensus across large organizations for your ideas and those of your peers; ability to both influence and get things done within your team as well as cross-functionally across the organization.
  • Strong internal and external communication skills; experience working with a variety of business functions.
  • Experience using data and evidence based decision frameworks to drive strategy.
  • High emotional intelligence, adaptable, and comfortable with change.
  • Strong understanding of security principles, methodologies, and technologies, along with experience in building scalable systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and scale engineering teams effectively, with a focus on technical excellence.
Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of skilled engineers and security researchers.
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end development of our existing security products as well as creating novel and innovative products to grow our security portfolio.
  • Collaborate closely and build consensus with colleagues in engineering, but equally importantly, with partners in the product and services teams. Being a great team player is critical to the success of this role.
  • Advise on, contribute to, and drive the technical vision and strategy at Fastly, especially with regard to security.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in secure software development, risk management, and incident response.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership: provide expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems.
  • Foster a culture of security-first thinking and technical rigor across all engineering teams.
  • Drive the architectural and technical direction of security-related projects, ensuring they are built for scale, resilience, and efficiency.
