Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 4+ years of experience working in either automotive or robotics engineering, or a related field
  • Experience working in production applications of customer HMI
  • Experience writing functional requirements
  • Experience writing safety requirements to meet ISO 26262 or similar standards
Responsibilities
  • Define the architecture and requirements of our fault handling system, from detection and logging to customer notification and interaction
  • Lead the systems engineering of all customer-facing HMI functions at Latitude including: How a customer safely and confidently engages/disengages the self-driving system through visual, auditory, and haptic interfaces; The situational awareness display that brings customer confidence to our autonomy system performance
  • Write safety and performance requirements that enable a complex, tightly integrated HMI to support our safety case through ISO 26262 and SOTIF standards
  • Work closely with cross-functional systems and software teams at Latitude and Ford in creating designs
  • Work closely with the integration and test engineers at Latitude to develop and execute the Design Verification Plan on benches, simulators, and vehicles
  • Work closely with human factors teams at Ford to generate data-driven metrics for customer use of various HMI interfaces
  • Periodically get hands-on with the product and see the designs in action!
