About the Job

Requirements

  • Required languages and tools include Python, Golang, C/C++, Jenkins Groovy, and Linux shell scripting; fluent English is required.
  • Required testing and quality expertise includes test framework design; load and stress tooling such as k6, Locust, Gatling, and JMeter; fault injection and chaos engineering; coverage instrumentation; and flake detection.
  • Required performance and analysis expertise includes CPU, GPU, memory, and I/O profiling; statistical analysis of noisy benchmarks; regression detection and commit attribution; and observability.
  • Required build and continuous-integration expertise includes Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD; Make or CMake; GCC or Clang; distributed build systems and caching; and Git/GitLab and Perforce large-binary workflows.
  • Required infrastructure expertise includes Linux and macOS administration; bare-metal/on-premises cluster operations; Docker or Podman; Kubernetes; Terraform or OpenTofu; and hardware capacity planning.
  • Required systems fundamentals include distributed-systems failure modes; TCP/IP and UDP; resilience patterns; and disaster-recovery planning and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the studio's functional test automation framework, including the runner, fixtures, game-state harness, reporting, and coverage instrumentation that makes untested systems visible.
  • Build regression-analysis tooling that distinguishes actual regressions from noise and automatically attributes them to a commit.
  • Improve test-suite speed and trust through flake detection, quarantine, parallel sharding, and deterministic replay.
  • Design load and stress testing systems that model realistic player behavior and drive launch-scale synthetic traffic against pre-production environments.
  • Build safe chaos-testing capability, including fault injection, latency and partition simulation, and dependency-failure testing against real infrastructure.
  • Run disaster-recovery exercises, measure actual recovery time and recovery point objectives against stated targets, and turn findings into permanent regression tests.
  • Build app-quality testing automation that captures frame time, memory, thermal performance, battery use, and cold-start performance automatically and gates results in continuous integration.
  • Own the device-compatibility lab, orchestration, and certification matrix so device support is verified on every commit.
  • Build and operate on-premises build clusters for distributed compilation, caching, and artifacts, and on-premises GPU clusters for scheduling, multi-tenancy, and utilization; use real data to support buy-versus-build decisions.
  • Design cross-platform developer tools, including AI-assisted tools such as agents, skills, and MCP servers, to reduce toil across Cloud, Backend, and Client Engineering.
  • Define, instrument, and publish developer-velocity and quality metrics, including build time, test-cycle time, flake rate, escaped-defect rate, and MTTR, and use them to prioritize the roadmap.
  • Drive adoption across teams that do not report to the role.
  • Mentor engineers in testing strategy, performance analysis, and systems thinking.
  • Raise engineering standards through code review, documentation, and reducing the bus factor.

Desired Qualifications

  • Mobile device-farm operation; Android and iOS build and profiling toolchains; GPU-cluster scheduling with Slurm, Kubernetes device plugins, or MIG; game-engine internals and engine-level test automation; deterministic simulation and replay testing; live-service game experience or equivalent SaaS/PaaS/XaaS experience; Windows administration; Ansible; TypeScript, Java, Kotlin, or Swift; and hybrid or multi-cloud management.
