Citadel Securities hired a semiconductor architect and Goldman Sachs MD.

Citadel Securities hired a semiconductor architect and Goldman Sachs MD. 3 hours ago Semiconductor stocks may have hit a rough patch last month, but the talent working on that technology is as in-demand as ever. Electronic market maker Citadel Securities recently hired the former CTO of a smaller semiconductor design firm, who was most recently plying his trade at Goldman Sachs. Mayan Moudgill joined Citadel Securities last month in New York as a senior software engineer. He spent the last quarter century working across Goldman Sachs and Sandbridge Technologies, a semiconductor manufacturing firm. He spent the last five years at Goldman Sachs, where he was an MD within the bank's engineering division, but spent seven years before that as chief architect and CTO of Sandbridge. Moudgill was part of the Sandbridge founding team in 2001, and became a tech fellow at Goldman Sachs during his first stint there. Moudgill is also credited on over 100 patent filings dating back to 1996. Many of these involve multithreading, where different threads of a program can run concurrently on different cores of a piece of hardware, allowing for significantly faster data analysis. His later patents, filed during his time at Sandbridge (which had changed names to Optimum Semiconductor Technologies after being acquired by a Chinese technology firm), were for a "neural network accellerator." Although Moudgill is joining as a software engineer, it seems likely that he will be working on hardware in some capacity. Citadel Securities declined to comment further than verifying his job title. It has a robust hardware engineering team which primarily works on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). It offers base salaries of up to $350k for FPGA engineers in current open job listings. ICYMI fintech funding round-up: Curant.ai, Oloman, Beelzebub, and more.

ICYMI fintech funding round-up: Curant.ai, Oloman, Beelzebub, and more. A handy round-up of the recent funding endeavours of fintech companies across the globe. July 31, 2026 At FinTech Futures, we know that it can be easy to let funding announcements slip you by in this fast-paced industry. That's why we put together our weekly In Case You Missed It (ICYMI) funding round-up so you can get the latest funding news. Epic Markets bags $10m pre-seed ahead of market rollout. Fintech start-up Epic Markets has raised $10 million in pre-seed funding from sole investor Karatage to develop its multi-asset brokerage platform for retail investors. Founded in 2026 by former Citadel Securities executives Kevin Kimmel and Brian Seegers, the Epic Markets platform is being built to "deliver institutional grade trading tools and liquidity to retail traders", according to LinkedIn. In a company statement, Epic Markets says it will use the new funds from Karatage to "accelerate the development of the platform and strengthen its technology offering ahead of its market rollout". Epic Markets is now encouraging customers to sign up to a waitlist via its website. FNG, which broke news of the raise, reports that a platform rollout could happen as soon as this year, targeting retail investors in the US and UAE. Birdai Labs secures $4m to develop blockchain infrastructure. US-based fintech Birdai Labs has raised $4 million in seed funding led by Castle Island Ventures, with support from Metalayer Ventures and The Venture Dept. Birdai operates base-layer infrastructure that measures and analyses blockchain transactions to show traders how much money they lose to hidden fees and price changes between placing an order and completing a trade. With the capital, founders Greg Scanlon and Kevin Farrelly now plan to "fund senior engineering hires and extend the company's infrastructure at the base of the chain", according to the seed funding announcement. Farrelly, who leads Birdai as CEO, previously founded machine-learning credit company Random Forest Capital in 2016, before selling to Franklin Templeton two years later. He joined the investment manager as a managing principal through the purchase, and spent the next seven years building blockchain venture funds. It was during this tenure that Farrelly met Scanlon, who used to work as a senior quantitative trader at Citadel before he joined Franklin Templeton in 2022. Beelzebub total funding tops €3.3m with new seed fundraise. Beelzebub has raised €3 million in a seed funding round led by United Ventures. The raise adds to a previously undisclosed €300,000 pre-seed round, and brings the Italian cybersecurity firm's total funding since inception to €3.3 million. Breaking the funding announcement on LinkedIn, CEO and founder Mario Candela reflects on the company's journey: "Five years ago I started writing Beelzebub on weekends as an open-source project." Since then, the firm has grown its offering into three flagship products: Arcangelo, Beelzebub Cloud, and Caronte. Candela explains: "Arcangelo continuously simulates a real attacker against the live perimeter. Beelzebub Cloud deploys deception infrastructure that is indistinguishable from production systems, so lateral movement is detected the moment it happens. Caronte reconstructs the attack and produces an incident report in minutes instead of weeks." A newsletter from United Ventures states that, with the funds, Beelzebub "is assembling a research team around Mario, including experienced vulnerability researchers, and will open commercial offices in Rome and San Francisco by the end of 2026". US insurtech Curant.ai lands $3.1m seed round. Curant.ai, a Utah-based AI software company that aims to automate the claims process for insurance organisations, has raised $3.1 million in a seed funding round led by early-stage investment firm Diagram. Other participants in the round included Humania Insurance, Element Ventures, Blue Plains Capital, and various angel investors. The insurtech was founded by CEO John Haller this year. Haller previously co-created beatBread in 2019 as a music funding platform which is now backed by Citigroup, Deciens Capital, and Mucker Capital. His latest venture develops AI software that extracts data from documents to help insurance staff review and process claims faster. Curant.ai says it will use the funding to develop its platform, "starting with a solution dedicated to disability". Fincart prepares for international expansion following $2.8m seed raise. Egyptian fintech Fincart has secured $2.8 million in seed funding. The oversubscribed round was co-led by Launch Africa and Antler MENAP, with Yango Ventures, Five35 Ventures, Bluestream Capital, Hi2 Global, and Kalahari Venture Labs also participating. Founded in 2023 by Mostafa Masry and Nihal Ali, Fincart provides an AI-powered operating platform which enables merchants to manage shipping, customer engagement, and cash advances through one interface. Since launch, the platform has grown to serve over 450 clients and is integrated with more than 40 courier companies across Africa. Fincart states that the new capital will lay the foundation for international expansion in 2027, and will be used to "scale its commercial and tech teams, invest in product development, and forge new commercial partnerships to strengthen its position in its home market". Olomon targets general availability with $2.6m pre-seed round. US-based fintech Olomon has scored $2.6 million in an oversubscribed pre-seed round backed by "entrepreneurs, fintech investors, and financial-services professionals, a number of whom are users of the product themselves", according to a company statement. Founded in 2023 by Jeremy Bolls, Olomon provides a client-owned financial system of record that consolidates household accounts, entities, documents, contacts, and decisions with permissioned access for advisors. In a blog post announcing the company's latest funding round, Bolls outlined the three priorities for the company's development roadmap. First, the platform is expanding its product depth to comprehensively track household portfolios, including private investments, insurance, and estate structures, which early-access users are currently testing. Second, the company is strengthening its advisor infrastructure to ensure secure collaboration between clients, attorneys, CPAs, and financial advisors. Finally, the roadmap focuses on opening a clear pathway to general availability, transitioning away from the current invite-only phase to allow households and professionals to onboard directly without a waitlist. INVESTOR ALERT: Pomerantz law Firm reminds investors with losses on their investment in Genius group limited of class action lawsuit and upcoming deadlines - GNS.

INVESTOR ALERT: Pomerantz law Firm reminds investors with losses on their investment in Genius group limited of class action lawsuit and upcoming deadlines - GNS. NEW YORK, July 28, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Pomerantz LLP announces that a class action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of investors in Genius securities, alleging violations of the federal securities laws by Citadel Securities LLC ("Citadel") and Virtu Americas LLC ("Virtu" and, together with Citadel, the "Defendants"). Such investors are advised to contact Danielle Peyton at [email protected] or 646-581-9980, (or 888.4-POMLAW), toll-free, Ext. 7980. Those who inquire by e-mail are encouraged to include their mailing address, telephone number, and the number of shares purchased. The class action concerns whether the Defendants and certain of its officers and/or directors have engaged in securities fraud or other unlawful business practices. You have until August 28, 2026, to ask the Court to appoint you as Lead Plaintiff for the class if you purchased or otherwise acquired Genius securities during the Class Period. A copy of the Complaint can be obtained at www.pomerantzlaw.com. The complaint alleges that throughout the Class Period, Defendants engaged in a manipulative and illegal trading practice known as "spoofing," which involves submitting and then cancelling buy or sell orders without any genuine intent to execute them. The purpose of these "baiting orders" was to mislead other market participants about the true level of supply and demand for Genius securities, or about the stock's price volatility, thereby influencing the market price of Genius to benefit Defendants' own trading positions. The alleged manipulation also increased investors' transaction costs by inflating the bid-ask spread for Genius stock. Defendants entered thousands of these baiting orders on U.S. stock exchanges to create the false impression that Genius's stock price reflected genuine supply-and-demand and volatility dynamics, while simultaneously profiting by absorbing and reselling their customers' order flow at prices favorable to Defendants. The complaint further alleges that throughout the Class Period, sharp declines in Genius's stock price consistently coincided with substantial spikes in Defendants' spoofing activity. For example, during the week of February 10, 2025, Defendants built significant short positions in Genius stock and reaped substantial trading profits: Citadel traded more than 23 million shares of Genius off-exchange, accounting for nearly half of all off-exchange trading in the stock, while Virtu traded nearly 11 million shares, accounting for more than 20% of all off-exchange trading. Together, Defendants comprised nearly 70% of all off-exchange trading in Genius stock that week, as short volume surged from a low of 53% to more than 61%. As a result, Genius's stock price decline by 22% despite the absence of any new material, company-specific news. Pomerantz LLP, with offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, Paris, and Tel Aviv, is acknowledged as one of the premier firms in the areas of corporate, securities, and antitrust class litigation. Founded by the late Abraham L. Pomerantz, known as the dean of the class action bar, Pomerantz pioneered the field of securities class actions. Today, more than 85 years later, Pomerantz continues in the tradition he established, fighting for the rights of the victims of securities fraud, breaches of fiduciary duty, and corporate misconduct. The Firm has recovered numerous multimillion-dollar damages awards on behalf of class members. See www.pomlaw.com. Attorney advertising. Prior results do not guarantee similar outcomes.
