Requirements
  • A Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from an American Dental Association-accredited dental school, or graduation from a foreign dental school followed by completion of an American Dental Association-accredited program.
  • Completion of one year of a General Residency or Advanced Education in a General Dentistry program.
  • Current CPR or Basic Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Examine and treat diseases and injuries of the teeth, gums, and related oral structures.
  • Perform preventive and maintenance dentistry and educate patients on proper tooth and gum care.
  • Diagnose conditions using X-rays and other diagnostic procedures and instruments.
  • Restore, extract, and replace teeth using appropriate instruments, restorative materials, medications, and surgical implements.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and up-to-date patient records.
  • Electronically record treatments, prescribed medications, and progress notes in Open Dental.
  • Navigate electronic medical record systems as needed to fulfill job duties.
  • Complete and lock all progress-note documentation according to Health Center policy.
  • Provide treatment in accordance with Medicaid guidelines.
  • Oversee the daily activities of the assigned dental assistant and assist with preparation of the assistant's annual performance evaluation.
  • Participate in the Dental Department peer-review process and departmental and center-wide performance-improvement activities.
  • Attend and participate in Dental Department staff meetings and in-service training for Dental Department personnel.
  • Provide professional consultation to other staff dentists.
  • Provide customer service and maintain respectful, compassionate relationships with diverse patients and staff.
  • Communicate and comply with HIPAA, corporate-compliance, and client-confidentiality requirements.
  • Remain compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, including DHHS, HRSA, and the New York State Department of Health, as well as applicable accreditation standards.
  • Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals defined by the Joint Commission and the Health Center.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of experience providing patient care.
  • Current Controlled Substances Registration Certification issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
