Requirements
  • Proven ability to improve efficiencies and meet production schedules.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Understanding of health and safety standards.
  • Excellent command of the English language, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service focus, interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated judgment, creativity, integrity, and ability to problem solve.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Ability to effectively handle escalations and time-critical issues.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management or supervisory experience in a production, manufacturing, industrial, or laboratory environment.
  • Post-secondary education, with a diploma or degree in Geological or Chemical Sciences preferred.
  • Previous experience in the mining, minerals, analysis, or geology industries preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time throughout the shift.
  • Ability to oversee day, afternoon, and graveyard shifts when required.
  • Eligibility to work in the country of application as a citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a valid working visa.
Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of the sample preparation facility, including production, workflow coordination, troubleshooting, and sample logistics.
  • Ensure productivity requirements are achieved in a safe and sustainable manner.
  • Meet or exceed financial targets, including Net Revenue, EBIT, and ROS.
  • Manage human resources on site, including recruiting, performance management, employee relations, attendance promotion, and staff scheduling.
  • Promote a safety culture by communicating and upholding ALS Group health, safety, and environment policies and programs.
  • Ensure sample preparation quality and support all quality program mandates, including routine checks, timely resolution of quality issues, participation in audits, and maintenance of required quality documentation.
  • Exemplify ALS core values and foster a workplace culture that reflects these values.
  • Encourage and support employee engagement through corporate or local initiatives and solicit employee input on workplace improvements.
  • Use correct methods in accordance with established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality.
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with ALS health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
