- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or have equivalent experience based on state regulation requirements.
- Six months of experience working within a physician’s office is desired.

- Perform administrative and clinical duties under the direction of the assigned direct supervisor.
- Confer with physicians, nursing staff, and other staff members to coordinate and schedule patient appointments.
- Greet and prepare patients.
- Measure and record vital signs.
- Record patient interviews, medical histories, and chief complaints.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets.
- Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.
- Assist physicians with examinations.
- Perform phlebotomy, collect other laboratory specimens, and perform basic laboratory tests.
- Perform electrocardiograms.
- Assist with X-ray and physician therapy procedures.
- Prepare and administer medications with physician authorization.
- Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform other first-aid procedures.
- Use cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills when necessary.
- Prepare accurate, legal, and ethical documentation.
- Open the office in the morning and close it in the afternoon.
- Maintain patient logs for laboratory requests, CT scans, and other patient treatment orders.
- Maintain the prescription ledger when needed.
- Maintain back-office flow, keep rooms full, and assist with room turnover.
- Perform thorough new-patient workups, including X-rays, vital signs, and explanation of the new-patient packet.
- Add medical history for new patients and accurately update the history of established patients.
- Perform accurate and complete room setup for the physician.
- Ensure that each patient’s medication list is updated before the physician visit.
- Set up in-office surgical procedures.
- Ensure that consent forms are completed correctly and avoid excessive use of medical abbreviations in consent forms.
- Scribe as assigned according to physician office flow.
- Prepare for the following day’s patients, including confirming next-day visits.
- Complete patient medical-record requests when necessary.
- Assist with orientation and training of new personnel.
- Ensure proper handoff of responsibilities after completing assigned tasks.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records for all patients.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, medical laws, and high ethical standards.
- Adhere to and support assigned compliance and accreditation efforts, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services guidelines for Parts C and D, general compliance, and fraud, waste, and abuse.
- Follow human resources and corporate policies and procedures.

IR Centers and Michigan Institute of Urology are expanding their collaboration to a third outpatient interventional radiology lab in Southeast Michigan. The expansion adds capacity for minimally invasive therapies and welcomes board-certified interventional radiologist Jeremy Handel, who brings over two decades of experience. The program, building on existing operations in Troy, will offer image-guided procedures for conditions including benign prostatic hyperplasia, pelvic venous disorders, and musculoskeletal conditions. The expansion aims to reduce wait times and extend access to alternatives to traditional surgery. "Expansion in Michigan is a direct response to patient need and our shared belief that advanced, image-guided care belongs close to the communities it serves," said Dr Sandeep Bagla, chief executive officer of IR Centers. IR Centers operates in more than 30 markets across the US, partnering with specialty practices to deliver interventional radiology services in outpatient settings.
In November, Michiganurology expanded its men's and women's sexual wellness services by opening its specialty clinic, REDEEM.
The Michigan Institute of Urology is partnering with Prostate Centers USA and opening IR Centers at MIU, a dedicated outpatient medical center for interventional radiology procedures in Troy.
Solaris Health, which is backed by Lee Equity Partners, has acquired Michigan Institute of Urology, an advanced urology practice.
