Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • At least five years of experience as an Administrator Compensation or in an equivalent compensation-focused role is required, including at least two years with direct responsibility for compensation administration and labor relations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of database applications such as Microsoft Access are required.
  • Experience with Oracle Compensation or comparable enterprise compensation systems is required.
  • Experience in a unionized healthcare, public-sector, or academic medical center environment is required.
  • Familiarity with compensation benchmarking, salary surveys, and market analysis is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all organizational levels, are required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of compensation-related policies, procedures, programs, and forms under the direction of the Director of Total Rewards, Compensation, and Leaves Management.
  • Oversee the Banner position control function and job classification and reclassification processes; conduct compensation and market reviews and provide recommendations related to departmental reorganizations and internal equity.
  • Manage the Competency-Based Job Description process to ensure compliance with Joint Commission requirements, including oversight of the job description library to keep approved position descriptions current, accurate, and grammatically correct.
  • Ensure that appropriate salary surveys and market studies are conducted to evaluate and validate compensation programs and pay practices.
  • Oversee implementation of negotiated union wage programs, including timelines, supporting documentation, and coordination with Human Resources, Payroll, and hospital leadership.
  • Participate in the development and execution of non-union compensation programs.
  • Supervise compensation staff responsible for day-to-day compensation program administration, including hiring, performance management, discipline, professional development, and other personnel actions.
  • Assist the Chief Negotiator during collective bargaining by compiling and analyzing compensation data, evaluating union proposals, developing goals and strategies, drafting proposals and counter-proposals, and tracking tentative agreements and outstanding negotiation issues.
