Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience aligning infrastructure with NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5 or FedRAMP security control frameworks.
  • A proven track record authoring and deploying hardening guidance using CIS Benchmarks, including Azure Foundations.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Group Policy Objects and Microsoft Intune configuration policies.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking architecture, including network security groups, virtual network segmentation, Azure Firewall, web application firewall, and Private Link.
  • Strong understanding of Azure role-based access control policies, logging and monitoring solutions, and data protection mechanisms.
  • Ability to communicate ideas to technical and non-technical audiences through written and oral communication.
  • Ability to independently collect, review, and evaluate IT product data to identify and characterize security threat sources and provide recommendations to government leadership.
  • Experience securing infrastructure within Microsoft Azure or Azure Government environments.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • A valid baseline security certification, such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH, or a Department of Defense equivalent, or the ability to obtain an approved certification within 90 days of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Implement, manage, and enforce security baselines and benchmarks such as CIS Benchmarks and Azure Foundations across enterprise endpoints and server infrastructure.
  • Support and audit Active Directory Group Policy Objects to enforce least privilege, disable insecure legacy protocols, and harden on-premises Windows environments.
  • Translate traditional Group Policy Objects into modern cloud management frameworks using Microsoft Intune Settings Catalogs, Administrative Templates, and Endpoint Security configurations.
  • Align technical configuration baselines with Information Assurance frameworks so that Group Policy Object and Intune policies map to auditable compliance controls.
  • Identify, evaluate, and categorize security risks within organizational systems by analyzing technical configurations against established frameworks such as NIST SP 800-30 and FedRAMP risk assessments.
  • Guide stakeholders in determining and integrating baseline security requirements and advise on the viability of alternative approaches.
  • Propose remediation and mitigating controls and recommendations to stakeholders and management to minimize risk.
  • Lead security team engagements to build and mature processes and produce written Standard Operating Procedures focused on improving Information Assurance processes, methodologies, and communication methods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three to five years of relevant work experience with network engineering and/or system administration in Unix, Linux, or Windows environments.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with internal partners and teams.
  • Experience authoring, testing, and debugging Azure Policy definitions and blueprints to automatically enforce configuration benchmarks such as CIS Azure Foundations across subscriptions.
  • Direct experience using Microsoft Defender for Cloud and its Regulatory Compliance dashboard to monitor and report on security postures.

Edgewater wins IT managed services contract with Argonne National Laboratory.

Edgewater wins IT managed services contract with Argonne National Laboratory. Edgewater Federal Solutions has won a 5-year contract to be the IT managed service provider for Argonne National Laboratory. Argonne is operated by UChicago Argonne, LLC, for the Energy Department. The 1,500-acre campus employs over 4,500 people, including approximately 1,600 scientists and engineers. Under the contract, Edgewater will deliver comprehensive managed IT services to support Argonne's critical research mission across energy, environment, national security and STEM disciplines, the company said. "We are honored to partner with Argonne National Laboratory in support of its vital research mission," said Rodger Jones, Energy+ president of Edgewater Federal Solutions. "This award expands our footprint across the DOE's national laboratory complex. Our growing presence in this space underscores our commitment to delivering secure, reliable, and mission-focused IT services that enable scientific discovery at the highest level."
