Responsibilities
  • Room patients, take vital signs, perform procedures, renew prescriptions, triage patient phone calls, review charts and laboratory results, schedule patients, and respond to provider messages.
  • Prepare examination rooms for providers between patient contacts.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for office visits, prescriptions, and procedures or surgeries.
  • Assist with inbound and outbound referrals.
  • Prepare medical charts by importing medications from pharmacies, preloading vaccines, and documenting pre-visit forms.
  • Administer vaccines.
  • Assist with scheduling new and established patient appointments as needed.
  • Communicate professionally by telephone with patients and healthcare professionals and follow phone standards.
  • Evaluate patient phone calls.
  • Assist with inbox management and refills according to SMA policy.
  • Monitor and work appropriately in the electronic medical record environment and office workflows.
  • Adapt to a busy office environment to meet care standards.
  • Manage and monitor medical supply processes and needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduation from a two-year accredited Medical Assistant program.
