About the Job

Requirements

  • Demonstrate GPU expertise, including access patterns, register and shared-memory usage, barriers, atomics, and threading.
  • Write idiomatic Python and demonstrate sound API design for Python users.
  • Understand compiler pipelines from authoring through intermediate representation, lowering, and optimization, while weighing maintainability.
  • Reason about whole systems and make sound decisions about where complexity belongs.
  • Measure performance before optimizing, prioritizing memory traffic and launch overhead before floating-point operations.
  • Write tests and benchmarks throughout development.
  • Work proactively and independently, seek context across the company, and communicate with engineers who use the system.
  • Be prepared to grow into leading a small team.

Responsibilities

  • Own Quadrants end to end, including its API, intermediate representation and lowering, optimization passes, numerical primitives, and roadmap.
  • Design and maintain an idiomatic Python API and authoring experience, including decorators, constraints, error handling, and lower-level escape hatches.
  • Develop a stable intermediate representation that lowers to multiple backends and supports future differentiable simulation.
  • Optimize execution through vectorization, register and shared-memory usage, barriers and atomics, cooperative threading, dead-buffer and redundant-traffic elimination, and reduced unnecessary synchronization.
  • Own numerical primitives such as Cholesky, eigendecomposition, matrix multiplication, reductions, and solver kernels, including correctness, benchmarks, and regression tracking.
  • Identify performance improvements in both Genesis and Quadrants, and propose API changes that reduce duplication, improve readability, and limit platform-specific special cases.
  • Benchmark real workloads, track performance over time, catch regressions, work with users to identify friction and missing abstractions, and drive adoption and project direction.
  • Read and challenge the codebase, reduce technical debt, keep the core architecture sound and extensible, and track relevant competition and emerging developments.

Desired Qualifications

  • CPU intuition is a plus.

About the Company

Genesis AI

Robotics simulation and AI foundation platform

Genesis AI provides a unified platform that combines robotics simulation, high-fidelity rendering, physics, and foundation models to support development in robotics and AI. It operates as a platform-as-a-service and licensing option so teams can run large-scale simulations, train reinforcement learning agents, and develop generative models in realistic virtual environments where physics, geometry, rendering, and AI tooling work together. It differs from others by bringing together core capabilities from robotics simulation, real-time rendering, computational geometry, and AI model development into one cohesive platform, backed by a team with experience at Havok, Unity, Autodesk, Google, and Epic Games. Its goal is to become a foundational technology layer that speeds up robotics and AI innovation by enabling efficient simulation, testing, and model development in a single environment.
