About the job

Requirements
  • 10 to 15 years of experience across data, artificial intelligence and engineering, including 4 or more years leading technical teams.
  • A record of taking artificial intelligence, machine learning or generative artificial intelligence solutions into production at enterprise scale, with specific examples of what went live and the benefit delivered.
  • Ability to prototype, write code, work through technical problems personally, and review design and code credibly.
  • Experience running the full people cycle for a technical team, including objectives, performance assessment, difficult feedback, development and progression, including managing through managers.
  • Experience delivering in a small team without dedicated support functions.
  • Experience taking on a team selected by others, establishing how it works and getting output from it early.
  • Depth in large language model and agent architectures, retrieval, evaluation, integration and machine learning operations sufficient to direct and challenge engineering managers on design decisions.
  • Experience identifying where artificial intelligence applies in a business function and securing sponsor ownership, including internal corporate functions.
  • Ability to discuss how an advisory or professional services business operates, including engagement teams, utilisation, deal cycles, partner economics and margins.
  • A structured method for determining where artificial intelligence belongs in a business before naming use cases.
  • Ability to describe and defend an artificial intelligence and technology stack suited to a professional services firm, including models, hosting, data handling, retrieval, systems integration and evaluation.
  • Experience baselining, measuring and reporting benefits and tracking adoption separately from benefit across a portfolio.
  • Practical experience handling confidential client data under formal controls.
  • Working knowledge of at least one of GDPR, UK GDPR, DPDP 2023 or POPIA, with the ability to apply the others.
  • Ability to communicate directly and concisely with partners, service-line leaders and senior governance stakeholders, hold a position under challenge, and propose better alternatives.
  • Experience being accountable for delivery to a manager in another country and time zone while serving stakeholders in several locations.
Responsibilities
  • Identify and proactively propose high-value artificial intelligence use cases.
  • Establish a structured approach to determine where artificial intelligence can add value.
  • Assess technical feasibility, risks and potential benefits before work begins.
  • Translate complex artificial intelligence concepts into clear business outcomes for senior stakeholders.
  • Build credibility with business partners and challenge assumptions constructively.
  • Build, lead and develop the artificial intelligence Centre of Excellence team as the capability scales.
  • Deliver the agreed artificial intelligence portfolio end to end from scope and prototype through pilot, hardening and production.
  • Personally prototype, write code and work through technical problems alongside the team, while reviewing design and code as the team matures.
  • Design reusable solutions that can be used across service lines and offices, applying common standards, components and delivery patterns.
  • Own live solutions, including reliability, run cost, support, model performance and defect resolution.
  • Build reusable components to reduce the time and cost of subsequent use cases.
  • Maintain a single delivery view covering milestones, dependencies, RAID and capacity.
  • Baseline initiatives before development and measure and report benefits after go-live, tracking adoption separately.
  • Own and maintain the Centre of Excellence technology and tooling landscape, including models, platforms, data stores, integration and evaluation tooling.
  • Set objectives and establish operating practices for the recruited team.
  • Own goal setting, performance assessment, calibration, feedback, development plans, progression and retention for the team.
  • Manage two Engineer Managers as delivery owners and hold them accountable for design quality, outcomes and their team members' performance.
  • Build technical depth and business understanding within the team.
  • Own hiring, onboarding, team structure and succession for critical roles as the Centre of Excellence grows.
  • Support the firm's artificial intelligence literacy and adoption programme in India.
  • Work with service-line teams, capability sponsors and the AI Taskforce to identify and shape use cases.
  • Work with corporate functions to automate internal processes and develop strong solutions into client-facing propositions.
  • Present candidate use cases with clear views on feasibility, effort and data readiness to the Head of AI.
  • Build business cases with sponsors and report on live use, adoption, failures, improvements and withdrawals.
  • Prepare initiatives for governance gates and maintain the central AI opportunity register.
  • Operate controls for confidential client data, including need-to-know access, engagement-team separation, residency, retention and model/vendor data terms.
  • Raise independence, conflicts of interest and cross-border data questions with Legal, Data Governance, IT and Information Security.
  • Apply responsible artificial intelligence practices, including pre-release evaluation, human review, traceability and management of bias and model error.
  • Apply the buy-before-build principle and manage build partners and vendors against scope, cost and quality.
  • Track platform, token and other run costs against budget.
Desired Qualifications
  • Direct experience in professional services, financial services, restructuring, transaction services, forensics or comparable advisory environments.
  • Experience turning an internally developed capability into an externally sold or offered proposition.
  • Experience establishing a technology or delivery team in India as part of an overseas-headquartered business.
  • Experience with document extraction, review, reconciliation and other high-volume data preparation workloads.
  • Familiarity with evolving artificial intelligence regulation, including the EU AI Act, and related security, bias and fairness considerations.
  • Experience managing SaaS providers and build partners against scope, cost and delivery standards.
  • An advanced degree in computer science, machine learning or engineering, or a Master of Business Administration.

Interpath acquires Kerkhoff Consulting Group

Interpath, a London-based advisory firm, has acquired Kerkhoff Consulting GmbH, a specialist in procurement and supply chain management. Financial details remain undisclosed. The acquisition enhances Interpath's expertise and expands Kerkhoff's market access. Gerd Kerkhoff and Thorsten Schmidt will become Special Advisors, while Ralph Kudla continues as Managing Director. POELLATH provided legal and tax advice to Kerkhoff's shareholders during the sale.
