Requirements
  • 12+ years of work experience in financial services or management consulting with heavy focus on capital management, financial planning, and analysis
  • Working knowledge of Credit Cards and other consumer bank products P&Ls, key risk & return dynamics and loss drivers.
  • Good understanding of Capital and Balance Sheet Management, CCAR & CECL framework, Basel III Endgame
  • Understanding of forecasting models for balance sheet and P&L
  • Proficiency with standard analysis tools (Advanced Excel / Tableau / Power BI / MicroStrategy)

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Forecasting Evaluation - Liaise extensively with finance and business partners to rigorously evaluate forecasts, particularly as part of the Outlook/Annual Plan and regulatory exercises such as CCAR/QMMF. This includes assessing implications to USPB (U.S. Personal Banking) capital-based stress losses, RWA, and other relevant balance sheet components.
  • Capital Driver Evaluation & Monitoring - Evaluate and deep-dive into the drivers of capital-based stress losses and RWA. Recommend and implement key metrics and leading indicators to effectively track these drivers across the entire retail risk pool, providing proactive insights. (Conducting weekly driver analysis to identify key contributing factors, anomalies, and potential impacts on capital adequacy, ensuring strict adherence to established risk limits and regulatory requirements.)
  • Executive Communication & Storyboarding - Build compelling and insightful presentations supported by rigorous analysis. Master the art of storyboarding results to effectively communicate complex quantitative findings and strategic recommendations to senior management and executive leadership teams, facilitating informed decision-making.

Banks report strong profits but warn of rising energy prices hitting consumers

America's largest banks reported strong first-quarter profits driven by robust investment banking activity and a resilient economy, though executives warned about mounting risks from rising energy prices and geopolitical uncertainty. JPMorgan Chase posted a profit of $16.49 billion, up 13% year-on-year, whilst Wells Fargo earned $5.25 billion and Citigroup reported $5.79 billion. Investment banking fees surged, with JPMorgan seeing a 30% jump and Citigroup a 12% increase in advisory fees, fuelled by market volatility and corporate dealmaking. However, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon cautioned about "an increasingly complex set of risks", including wars, energy prices and trade tensions. Citi stock poised to jump as Wall Street loves the name, says Jim Cramer

Citigroup has raised interest among investors, with Jim Cramer highlighting strong market sentiment towards the stock. Citi beats Q1 profit estimates with $5.8B net income as dealmaking surges 14%

Citigroup beat first-quarter profit estimates on Tuesday, reporting net income of $5.8 billion, or $3.06 per diluted share, compared to $4.1 billion in the prior-year period. The result exceeded analysts' estimate of $2.63 per share. Revenue rose 14% whilst net income grew 42%, driven by strong dealmaking activity. Investment banking fees increased 19% to $1.3 billion, with growth in advisory and equity capital markets. Services revenue climbed 17%, and markets crossed $7 billion in revenue. Global investment banking revenue reached $28.2 billion in the first quarter, the highest since 2021. Chief executive Jane Fraser attributed the performance to softer regulation under President Trump and the AI boom. The bank remains on track to deliver its 10-11% return on tangible common equity target.

MerQube secures Series C funding from 7RIDGE and Deutsche Börse to scale derivatives-linked ETF platform

MerQube, a US-based index provider specialising in rules-based and derivatives-enabled strategies, has closed a Series C funding round led by 7RIDGE and Deutsche Börse Group. Existing investors including Allianz Life Ventures, Citi, Intel Capital, J.P. Morgan, Laurion Capital Management and UBS also participated, though the funding amount was not disclosed. The company plans to use the investment to scale its technology platform and expand in derivatives-linked ETF and structured product markets. MerQube focuses on providing customised index solutions and data-driven strategies for institutional clients.
