Opening in 2028, the facility will form part of a major transformation of the internationally significant science campus, which is being expanded from 125 acres to 440 acres. Once the full development is complete, the campus could support a community of up to 9,000 People. The Wellcome Genome Campus is home to organisations and Researchers working in genomics, biodata, health data and data science, with a growing focus on machine learning and AI in health and care. Unlike a conventional corporate fitness facility, the Nuffield Health club will also be open to the wider community and will combine health and medical services with a substantial health club, Sport and recovery offer. Facilities will include a four-lane, 25-metre Swimming pool, gym, climbing and bouldering facilities, an Indoor cycling studio, Padel courts, Pilates and Reformer Pilates studios and a large multi-purpose studio offering group Exercise classes. Recovery, Rehabilitation and preventative healthcare facilities will include a large Spa pool, cold plunge pool, steamroom and sauna. Health screenings, GP services and physiotherapy will also be available, creating a pathway into Nuffield Health's wider healthcare network. Where required, people will be able to access onward referrals to the Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital for diagnostics and surgical procedures. Chris Bailey, director of corporate and primary care at Nuffield Health, said: "Biohacking ORB is proud to partner with the Wellcome Genome Campus on a new vision for what a high specification, health and Wellness destination should deliver. The health and fitness club will form part of the first phase of the campus Expansion, alongside new lab-enabled workspace, called The Sequence, around 84 homes and new F&B venues. Work on the first phase began earlier this year, with completion scheduled for 2028. The wider masterplan has outline planning permission for up to 1.6 million sq ft of R&D, laboratory, office and other employment space and 1,500 homes for campus workers and their families, supported by community, hospitality, leisure and infrastructure facilities. Nuffield Health Hereford Hospital: private healthcare close to home. (Image: Nuffield Health) Half a mile from the centre of Hereford, on Venns Lane, sits a private hospital that has quietly become one of the city's busier healthcare addresses. Nuffield Health Hereford Hospital has 20 en-suite bedrooms, two operating theatres and an outpatient department that takes in physiotherapy and diagnostic imaging, all on a single site close enough to the city centre for patients to walk in from town. The hospital's specialisms cover ENT, general surgery, gynaecology, orthopaedics and urology, with consultants leading every stage of a patient's care from first appointment through to follow-up. Alongside surgery, the hospital runs a face-to-face private GP service, with appointments often available within 24 hours. Initial 30-minute consultations with Dr Andrew Black cost £150 and come with rapid access to on-site diagnostic tests and, where needed, fast-track referral to a specialist consultant under the same roof. One of the more eye-catching investments in recent years has been in robotic orthopaedic surgery. The hospital uses a Mako robotic-arm system to assist with hip and knee replacements, with each procedure planned from a personalised 3D model built using the patient's own CT scan. The result is a level of precision that was not available to surgeons working in the county a few years ago. The Healthspan Check is a science-backed assessment that converts an estimated VO[2] Max and Cardiorespiratory Fitness (CRF) score into a single, easy-to-understand Healthspan Score, enabling members to benchmark their aerobic fitness against others of the same age and gender. Widely recognised as one of the strongest indicators of overall health, cardiorespiratory fitness reflects how efficiently the heart, lungs and muscles work together during exercise. Nuffield Health strengthens commitment to outstanding theatre standards through AfPP partnership. * July 02, 2026 Nuffield Health has announced a new partnership with the Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) that will see all its hospitals work towards AfPP accreditation - a major step in strengthening consistency, quality and safety in theatre care across its national network. Widely regarded across the sector as the gold standard mark of excellence, patients are at the heart of AfPP Accreditation. It offers patients meaningful reassurance that each Nuffield Health hospital is working to the same high standards of safety, quality and perioperative practice. Two of Nuffield Health's hospitals have already achieved successful accreditation. As part of its ambition to provide the best healthcare and support people can receive anywhere, Nuffield Health will now embed the AfPP framework across its remaining 33 hospitals, with a target of full rollout by the end of 2027. The partnership, announced at Nuffield Health's York Hospital, will see AfPP work alongside teams across Nuffield Health to further strengthen patient safety by embedding recognised best practice across its hospital theatre services. AfPP Accreditation is a collaborative, structured review that benchmarks theatre services against the AfPP Standards & Recommendations for Safe Perioperative Practice (2022), as well as national frameworks including the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and the National Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (NatSSIPs). Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital rolls out new non-surgical treatment for chronic nasal condition. Nuffield Health is now offering a new type of treatment for people with chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyps at its Cheltenham hospital, to tackle the root cause of severe nasal polyps, instead of just the symptoms. By Rachel Roberts | Published Thursday 18 June 2026 Adults in Gloucestershire who suffer from chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps can now benefit from a new, non-surgical treatment from Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital. Approved for use in the UK in February 2026, the treatment, known as biologic therapy, is now available through Nuffield Health's specialist ENT service. Nasal polyps are non-cancerous growths that develop in the lining of the nose and sinuses as a result of ongoing inflammation. While surgery can remove these growths, they can sometimes grow back, leading to a cycle of recurring symptoms that health authority, NICE, acknowledges can 'significantly impact quality of life'. Symptoms include constant nasal blockage, loss of smell and taste, facial pressure, and fatigue due to poor quality sleep. Traditional treatments involve the use of steroids, which broadly suppress the immune system, while the newer treatment is changing how the condition is managed by tackling the root cause of the problem, rather than the symptoms alone. Biologic therapy targets specific parts of the immune response that cause inflammation by blocking key immune signals, focusing on what is known as 'type 2 inflammation'. Successful clinical trials have shown the treatment not only shrinks the polyps, but also reduces the accompanying symptoms, when combined with standard care. The treatment can be administered by injection every two to four weeks, with many patients able to self-administer at home following specialist guidance provided by Nuffield Health. Adults whose condition has not responded to sinus surgery or steroid medication may be eligible for biologic therapy, with patients assessed on an individual basis, taking their medical history, symptom severity, and any other related conditions into account. Patients in Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas can access a full diagnostic assessment - which can involve nasal endoscopy and a review of treatment history - through the ENT service at Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital.
