Requirements
  • Current enrollment in an accredited university pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field.
  • Must be a rising senior at the time of their internship and returning to school at the end of their internship to continue their academic studies for at least one quarter/semester.
  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export-controlled data.
  • Ability to complete an in-person 12-week internship in McHenry, MS
Responsibilities
  • Assist the test team with the setup and execution of static fire tests, including motor assembly, instrumentation, and data collection.
  • Support the chemistry team in the development and mixing of solid rocket propellant.
  • Join the fabrication team to learn about the manufacturing processes and contribute to the production of solid rocket motor components.
  • Participate in the quality assurance processes across different stages of production.
  • Help maintain and calibrate equipment in the testing and chemistry.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians on problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Document technical findings and support the creation of reports and presentations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines within the facility.
  • Engage in learning opportunities and actively participate in team discussions.
  • Gain real-world experience in solid rocket motor testing and chemistry.
  • Develop a practical understanding of propulsion systems and material science applications in the aerospace industry.
  • Enhance technical skills in data analysis, laboratory practices, and quality control.
