Requirements
  • A J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar.
  • One to three years of experience handling workers’ compensation matters.
  • Strong advocacy, negotiation, and legal writing skills.
  • Courtroom confidence and professionalism in client and defense interactions.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and maintain a high level of organization in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compassionate, client-first mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of workers’ compensation claims from inception to resolution.
  • Represent injured workers in hearings, depositions, and mandatory settlement conferences before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.
  • Conduct client intake and maintain regular, empathetic communication with clients throughout their cases.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, trial briefs, and correspondence.
  • Handle discovery, including depositions of parties and medical and legal experts.
  • Negotiate settlements and prepare compromise and release agreements or stipulations with requests for awards.
  • Collaborate with paralegals and legal assistants to move cases forward efficiently.
  • Stay current on changes in California workers’ compensation law and related regulations.
