Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and codes related to fluid system design and qualification.
  • Experience with CAD and fluid analysis software (CFD, FEA, etc.).
  • Previous experience with engineering change management, non-conformances, and material review board in a highly regulated industry such as aviation, aerospace, or nuclear
  • Consistent track record of manufacturing experience directly related to part machining.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
  • On-site position. Work from work, no remote options available
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Responsibilities
  • Document non-conformance tags for spacecraft fluids and propulsion subsystems
  • Analyze variations to part print specifications which effect part form, fit, and function
  • Evaluate and provide a course of action regarding the ultimate disposition of the parts
  • Develop and manage execution of work order procedures pertaining to nonconformance dispositions
  • Closely manage the fabrication, quality, post processing, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire fabrication process.
  • Evaluates areas of non-conformance regarding defects arising during the manufacturing process and as compared to the product definition requirements as defined by the drawings and associated specifications/documentation
  • Support the manufacturing floor in assembly and installation, compliance to engineering requirements, discrepancy resolution, and component acceptance testing.
  • Disposition and investigate root cause of vehicle discrepancies and take ownership of implementation of preventative/corrective action.
  • Drive producibility excellence into integrated product team (IPT) designs – includes design for safety, manufacturing, assembly, maintainability, testing, cost, logistics, inspection, standards, etc.
  • Engage with suppliers and customers to resolve emergent nonconformance
  • Perform design engineering analysis of discrepant machined parts manufactured in an aerospace manufacturing facility
  • Use-as-is (UAI) dispositions can still have a Supplier Quality (SQ) ticket submitted for corrective action to prevent future repetitive nonconformant occurrences that may cause similar defects in future (e.g. corrective action to control future UAIs)
  • Non-Conformances (NC) can be defects deviating from drawing, part specification document, etc. requirements
  • Expectation to create WOs
  • Expectation to provide hands-on floor support (hybrid/in-person position)
  • Expectation to engage with design team to improve drawings, models, specifications, etc. to improve future part/assy producibility

Blue Origin focuses on making space travel accessible through suborbital space tourism. The company offers unique experiences where passengers can travel to the edge of space aboard its reusable rocket, New Shepard. This rocket takes passengers on an 11-minute journey, allowing them to experience a few minutes of weightlessness and enjoy stunning views of Earth from over 100 kilometers above. Blue Origin generates revenue by selling premium tickets for these flights, targeting affluent individuals and space enthusiasts. Unlike many competitors, Blue Origin not only provides space tourism but is also developing advanced rocket engines and technologies for potential sales to other aerospace companies and government agencies. The company's goal is to lead in the commercial spaceflight market while expanding into lunar landers and other space exploration technologies.
