  • A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager in the solar construction industry with a general contractor is required.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with construction project management applications, are required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to interface directly with owners' representatives, the architecture/engineering team, building departments, and other team members.
  • Intermediate finance skills are required.
  • The role requires frequent physical activity in indoor and outdoor environments, including standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • The role requires the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally handle heavier loads with assistance.
  • The employee must be able to work around moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, loud noise levels, and extreme temperatures.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager in the administrative and technical management of solar projects.
  • Assist in supervising activities related to contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, and scheduling.
  • Review design documents; identify key subcontractors; investigate sites; analyze labor markets; identify long-lead items; develop bid packages, schedules, and site utilization plans; and conduct pre-bid conferences.
  • Manage project financial responsibilities, including developing and maintaining the Project Financial Report and Labor Cost Report.
  • Set up the Project Schedule of Values, approve miscellaneous job expenditures, prepare monthly Owner Requisitions, manage the change order process, administer the owner purchase program, manage project assets, and enforce company bonding and insurance policies.
  • Develop scopes of work, establish filing systems and JMIS/Iris systems, develop purchasing schedules, obtain insurance and bonds, and develop the Quality Control Program.
  • Comply with contract requirements, coordinate with corporate scheduling, prepare and distribute detailed project schedules, prepare resource-loaded schedules, and develop look-ahead schedules.
  • Mentor and provide direction to staff, disseminate company policy and information, and promote employee morale.
  • Administer document control, the Request for Information process, critical items lists, monthly reports, and correspondence.
  • Conduct trade pre-construction meetings; coordinate subcontractors and vendors; coordinate permit inspections; maintain subcontractor relationships; manage the Loss Control Safety Program; and manage the shop drawing process.
  • Interact regularly with the owner and comply with the client's needs.
  • Manage project closeout and post-construction services, obtain Certificates of Occupancy and other government approvals, submit as-built drawings and operation manuals, complete punch lists, coordinate owner move-in and start-up, and obtain and deliver warranties.
  • Participate in company-sponsored events, task team committees, and industry-related organizations.
  • Participate in training programs, continuing education programs, seminars, and conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
