Requirements
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university
  • Board-certification or residency-trained in internal medicine
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state of Virginia and/or Maryland
  • The ability to make decisions and communicate clearly and effectively with fellow team members and pet families
  • A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine, upholding the veterinary code of ethics
  • Clinical experience in emergency medicine or general practice, or completion of a rotating or specialty internship
  • Professional demeanor and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, friendly attitude
  • Support for new graduates who have commitment to continued professional development and mentorship.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the emergency service and other specialty departments to provide integrated patient care.
  • Take an active role in shaping the internal medicine department and practice within Partner Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center.
  • Work with scribes and patient care coordinators to document exams, communication, and assist with overall record preparation; assist with client communication, treatment plan estimates, and coordination of complex interdepartmental care of high acuity patients.
  • Provide opportunities for didactic learning through grand rounds, journal club, morbidity and mortality discussions, and specialty department case rounds.
  • Engage in opportunities to participate in clinical research and trials.
  • Support open collaboration and knowledge sharing to improve learning and development for the hospital and internship program.
