About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of technical product management experience or product-minded infrastructure engineering experience, with a track record of owning architecture-level outcomes at Principal or equivalent scope focused on cloud storage or related infrastructure.
  • Subject matter expertise in storage, with credibility to operate as a peer to senior infrastructure engineers and architects.
  • Strong technical understanding of hyperscale cloud storage architectures, including block, file, and object storage.
  • Experience managing long-term vendor strategy and vetting in-house software engineering investment for storage hardware and software.
  • A strong grasp of infrastructure economics at scale, including cost per usable terabyte and capacity efficiency.
  • The ability to use data to inform multi-year infrastructure decisions.
  • The ability to translate technical tradeoffs into clear narratives for engineering leadership and executives.
Responsibilities
  • Define the 2-4 year vision and roadmap for the storage foundation across block, file, object, local NVMe, and archival tiers.
  • Own the long-term storage architecture and hierarchy.
  • Own the long-term vendor management strategy for the storage stack and shape cost structure, capital allocation, and competitive position.
  • Set platform performance and durability targets, including storage cost per usable terabyte and capacity efficiency.
  • Own the future architecture required to support significantly larger artificial intelligence clusters and fleet scale.
  • Identify structural limitations in the current architecture and prioritize long-term investments to resolve them.
  • Partner with Infrastructure Engineering and Architecture on major technical tradeoffs and define product requirements and business rationale for foundational investments.
  • Scout emerging storage technologies and vendors and represent storage foundations in leadership reviews.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning infrastructure, including training and inference workloads in the cloud.
  • Direct experience with high-performance storage networking, such as Remote Direct Memory Access or GPUDirect Storage.
  • Experience with a major cloud provider such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform and its storage services, or a deep understanding of cloud-native storage principles at hyperscale.
  • Experience managing or mentoring other product managers.

About the company

Crusoe builds vertically integrated AI infrastructure—energy, data centers and cloud—for training and running AI workloads on purpose-built capacity. It pairs energy sourcing (including stranded or clean power) with high-performance computing to create AI data-centre and modular “AI factory” deployments. It differentiates by owning the full stack—energy supply, compute hardware, and cloud services—versus outsourcing to third-party data centers. Its goal is to expand data-centre capacity and modular AI factories to meet enterprise and hyperscale demand while using energy-efficient or stranded power sources.

What believers are saying

  • September 2026 brought a $3.9 billion Series F and oversubscribed investor demand.
  • September 15, 2026 Perplexity deal expands Crusoe Cloud across training and inference.
  • September 23, 2026 Thinking Machines Lab lifted managed inference above $100 million ARR.

What critics are saying

  • Texas PUCT curtailment rules force 30-minute shutdowns for co-located loads, hurting reliability.
  • Crusoe’s growth depends on a few giant customers like Jane Street and Perplexity.
  • A 2027 buildout slip at Childress or Goodnight delays revenue and strains capital.

What makes Crusoe unique

  • Crusoe vertically integrates power, data centers, and cloud across the full AI stack.
  • September 17, 2026 financing validated Crusoe’s scale at $30.9 billion valuation.
  • Tulsa manufacturing in 2026 gives Crusoe in-house switchgear and busbar production.

Thinking Machines Lab signs $65M deal with Crusoe for AI inference infrastructure

Crusoe, a vertically integrated AI infrastructure provider, has signed a $65 million annual agreement with Thinking Machines Lab to power inference for the lab's open models on Crusoe Cloud. Through Crusoe Managed Inference, Thinking Machines Lab will serve production workloads including its Inkling models, GLM 5.2 and 5.3, on NVIDIA HGX B200 systems connected with NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking. The service enables Thinking Machines Lab to scale without managing its own inference stack. The companies plan to expand into batch inference for large-scale synthetic data generation. Thinking Machines Lab joins other clients that have taken Crusoe Managed Inference past $100 million in contracted annual recurring revenue less than a year from launch.

Crusoe signs multiyear Perplexity cloud deal for Nvidia AI chips

Crusoe has signed a multiyear cloud agreement to supply Perplexity with Nvidia AI chips for model training and inference, Bloomberg reported Tuesday. The deal's financial terms and capacity were not disclosed. Under the agreement, Crusoe will manage the technology throughout its operating life. More than 1,800 Crusoe employees will receive access to Perplexity's Enterprise Max product, which provides AI-powered search tools. The contract adds to Crusoe's growing cloud business, which recently secured a five-year agreement with Jane Street worth roughly $13 billion. In June, Crusoe reported 4.9 GW of contracted AI infrastructure capacity across its data centre projects and cloud platform, with a development pipeline exceeding 40 GW. Crusoe opened a 400,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Monday.

Crusoe opens second Tulsa facility, doubles workforce to 300 for AI infrastructure manufacturing

Crusoe has opened its second manufacturing facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma, adding 400,000 square feet to its operations and bringing its national manufacturing footprint to roughly 1 million square feet. The AI infrastructure company has hired more than 300 local workers across its two Tulsa sites, up from the 100 initially expected when the first facility opened in 2024. The facilities produce electrical equipment for AI infrastructure, including medium-voltage switchgear, low-voltage switchboards, electrical enclosures, industrial controls, and custom-fabricated copper busbar. The company has supplied more than 2,500 switchboards to its Stargate Project site in Abilene, Texas. Crusoe now employs more than 1,800 people, with 15,000 skilled workers across its sites. The company manufactures components in-house to reduce production time and maintain quality control.
