Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine approved ultrasound program
  • Experience: 1+ years perinatal/obstetrical ultrasound experience; Amniocentesis and Chorionic Villus Sampling experience preferred; Previous experience working in an antenatal testing center setting a plus
  • Competencies: Annual Trophon EPR high-level disinfection competency training
  • Certifications: Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with an Obstetrics/Gynecology specialty or eligible; eligible candidates must obtain the OB/GYN specialty within 6 months of hire and maintain certification thereafter; NT and cervical length certification preferred (eligible candidates must obtain certification within 6 months of hire and maintain certification thereafter); Fetal echocardiography certification preferred (eligible candidates must obtain certification within 1 year of hire and maintain certification thereafter)
Responsibilities
  • Performs ultrasound examinations of prenatal patients following the protocol established by the Medical Director of the Maternal Fetal Medicine department and national guidelines including Accomplishes level 1 and level 2 ultrasound examinations
  • Accomplishes Doppler flow studies
  • Performs transvaginal ultrasound examinations
  • Assists physician with invasive uterine procedures (Amniocentesis, Chorionic Villus Sampling)
  • Maintains sterile field during procedures
  • Reviews images and participates in reading sessions
  • Performs additional images when needed
  • Accepts and performs add-on and emergency patients responsibly
  • Maintains records and documents including records patient data, ensuring accuracy of patient information, completes patient reports and schedules follow-up appointments, and inputs data into reporting system
  • Provides education and maintains ultrasound equipment including educating obstetrical residents in basic ultrasound, entering all necessary data and patient information into ultrasound reporting system, ensuring consistent and optimal function of equipment, taking action to correct problems
  • Maintains clean ultrasound machine and work area; attends mandatory hospital and/or sonographic in-services and maintains current knowledge of specialty through continuing education
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • Amnio and CVS experience preferred
  • NT and cervical length certification preferred
  • Fetal echocardiography certification preferred
  • Antenatal testing center setting experience a plus
  • EMR experience preferred
