Deutsche Bank Q3 pretax profit beats forecasts at $2.8B on record asset inflows

Deutsche Bank reported third-quarter pretax profit of €2.63 billion, about 10% above the €2.39 billion analysts expected. Record inflows into wealth and asset management offset higher provisions for bad loans, while costs held flat at €5.2 billion. Net revenues rose 4% to €8.3 billion. Profit after tax was €1.9 billion, a record for a third straight quarter. Asset Management took in €31 billion, and Private Bank added €17 billion. Provisions for credit losses rose 20% from a year earlier to €501 million. The bank said strong nine-month results support its goal of more than €33 billion in revenue in 2026. Chief executive officer Christian Sewing said the bank may exceed its 2028 target for return on tangible equity of more than 13%.

PepsiCo raises $1.1B in Europe as North American beverage sales drop 3%

PepsiCo entered Europe's public bond market on Friday with a €1 billion ($1.12 billion) two-part deal, one day after cutting its profit outlook due to mounting costs in North America. The deal comprises a three-year tranche and a nine-year tranche, each worth €500 million. The shorter part is priced at around 60 basis points above mid-swaps, whilst the longer slice is marketed at around 105 basis points. The company lowered its earnings growth outlook on Thursday, citing weakness in both its beverage and snack businesses. Chief executive officer Ramon Laguarta said the company doesn't "feel good about the beverage business". Sales volumes of North American beverages have fallen 3% so far this year. This marks PepsiCo's second euro issuance this year.

Deutsche Bank upgrades Netflix to Buy despite U.S. YouTube gains, cuts target to $95

Deutsche Bank upgraded Netflix to Buy on 29 September, arguing investors focus too much on US viewing habits while overlooking international growth. Analyst Bryan Kraft noted non-English titles now account for over a third of Netflix viewing, with time spent on the platform rising abroad in each of the past four half-year periods. The upgrade comes despite a price target cut to $95 and reduced profit estimates, making it primarily a valuation call. Netflix now trades at roughly 18 times Deutsche Bank's 2027 earnings estimate, down from approximately 40 times at its June 2025 peak. The bank believes Netflix's production scale—over half its content now originates outside the US—will protect its global position. US and Canada revenue represented less than half of second-quarter sales at $5.4 billion of $12.6 billion total.
