Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse and currently registered in the state of the community.
  • Must obtain valid continuing education credits as required by the state of the community.
  • Training in Alzheimer’s and dementia care with a focus on Validation Therapy.
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience in a health care facility.
  • Experience in emergency care and first aid.
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, associates, residents, family members, and outside contacts.
  • Able to make independent decisions.
  • Able to seek out new methods and incorporate them into existing practices when applicable.
  • Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens.
  • Must disclose any medication that might impair the ability to perform the job safely or competently.
  • Requires a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and individual nursing care to assigned residents according to nursing standards and under the supervision of the Director of Resident Care.
  • Ensure quality and safe delivery of health services to residents.
  • Implement the plan of care formulated by the physician and Director of Resident Care.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation of care given.
  • Assess and provide residents and family or caregivers with information pertinent to diagnosis or plan of care.
  • Administer medication according to physician orders, document it on the Medication Administration Record, observe for adverse reactions, and notify the physician as appropriate.
  • Assemble resident charts and records and verify that required forms are complete and accurate.
  • Prepare incident or accident reports as needed, notify the physician and family after an incident or accident according to policy, and document appropriately.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment using safe work methods and procedures in accordance with clinical standards.
  • Assist residents in learning appropriate self-care activities.
  • Organize and monitor associates and material resources necessary to meet the needs of assigned residents.
  • Recognize emergencies and life-threatening situations and initiate appropriate actions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and resident rights concerning personal information.
  • Attend required community meetings and participate in Life Enrichment activities when able.
  • Complete required courses in adherence with HRA University.
  • Perform required duties on a regular and predictable basis.
  • Learn how to report a missing person using the Safe Return program or equivalent.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for community residents.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a long-term care community and/or geriatric nursing facility.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook software.
