About the job

Requirements
  • A B.E. or B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
  • Five to seven years of experience.
  • A strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and its application to product design.
  • Knowledge of failure mechanisms and mitigation measures for mechanical components made from metallic and non-metallic materials, including polymers.
  • Expertise using one or more CAD tools: NX, Creo/ProE, CATIA, or SolidWorks.
  • Hands-on experience mechanically integrating components on vehicles and coordinating with other teams on vehicle electrical integration.
  • Experience designing and developing sheet metal parts, machined components, and custom mounting solutions for automotive components.
  • Ability to create flat patterns or unfolded views for sheet metal fabrication.
  • Ability to identify and apply dimensions and tolerances from international design standards to standard automotive components, including fastener joints, hydraulic joints, and shaft-hole systems.
  • Ability to apply standard automotive wire-harness cable management and routing concepts, including minimum bend radii, strain relief, and separation from heat sources, sharp sheet-metal edges, and moving components.
Responsibilities
  • Design 3D models and assemblies in commonly used CAD platforms.
  • Ensure bracket designs and fastening methods withstand automotive vibration, thermal cycling, and harsh operating environments.
  • Generate production-ready 2D design drawings with relevant dimensions and tolerances.
  • Analyze packaging constraints, clearance limits, and access and ergonomic requirements within vehicle compartments, including the engine bay, cabin, underbody, and boot space.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and process capabilities such as stamping, bending, CNC machining, and laser cutting to design cost-effective, easy-to-manufacture components.
  • Design, prototype, and release sheet metal, machined, and additively manufactured brackets to mount sensors and hardware in restricted spaces while meeting automotive durability and dynamic-load requirements.
  • Translate physical and technical integration requirements for automotive sensors, including pressure, temperature, IMUs, speed, and position sensors, and data acquisition (DAQ) measurement hardware into mechanical mounting requirements.
  • Select and apply appropriate fasteners, including rivets, weld nuts, clinching/PEM fasteners, bolts, and clips, and joint techniques for automotive sheet-metal and machined joints.
  • Understand electrical schematics and translate them into harness preparation instructions.
  • Coordinate with local vendors for rapid prototyping, including 3D printing, sheet metal, machining, and plastic parts.
  • Guide technicians integrating components on the car using work instructions and ensure adherence to best practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • Identify basic automotive electrical connections (power and signals) in a car and safely tap into the stock car electrical networks.
  • Identify harness routings, verify pinouts and connector interfaces, and conduct electrical continuity checks to ensure proper system wiring during setup and integration testing.

Robert Bosch Venture Capital

View

RBVC (Robert Bosch Venture Capital) is a global venture capital firm that backs early-stage deep tech startups in areas like energy efficiency, medical devices, and virtual/augmented reality. It supports companies with funding and access to Bosch’s network and resources to help them scale and bring innovations to market. Unlike traditional VCs, RBVC may purchase solutions for a proof-of-concept while allowing startups to keep their intellectual property, which speeds up development and lowers upfront costs. The firm earns money through equity investments and the eventual success of its portfolio. RBVC’s goal is to accelerate technological advances across multiple industries by connecting startups with Bosch’s ecosystem, customers (from medical centers to data centers), and global reach.
