- Modify patient treatments to reflect changes in goals and objectives when needed.
- Administer treatment programs, including therapeutic exercises, isokinetic testing and training, gait training, therapeutic applications of heat, cold, electricity, and ultrasound, massage, manual therapeutic techniques, and functional training.
- Document patient care in accordance with department policies and procedures, including recording patient reactions and progress during treatment and writing discharge summaries when treatment ends.
- Communicate with physicians and other health personnel when indicated.
- Instruct and provide technical direction to physical therapist assistants and technicians assisting in patient-care activities.
- Participate in clinical studies and guide physical therapy students.
- Counsel patients and families as needed.
- Establish home programs for patients and instruct patients and families in performing exercises as indicated.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the Physical Therapy Director and Senior Physical Therapists.
- Experience treating patients with advanced spinal problems.
