Requirements
  • Three to five or more years of relevant cybersecurity, systems engineering, or classified material handling experience.
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense security and information assurance requirements, including DoDI 8500.2 and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides.
  • Experience implementing and testing security controls.
  • Ability to lift 15–20 pounds or more, stand and walk for prolonged periods, and twist, bend, and squat periodically.
  • Must currently hold a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance and be a U.S. citizen.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain possession and accountability of security containers and their classified contents.
  • Confirm clearance and need-to-know before granting access to classified material.
  • Report situations requiring police response to NDW Regional Dispatch and the NSWCDD Security Director.
  • Ensure personnel listed on SF-700 are trained for recall and alarm response.
  • Maintain SF-702 check sheets for all openings and closings of security containers.
  • Ensure SF-701 forms are completed and destroyed after 90 days, or retained if under investigation.
  • Request and enforce combination changes in accordance with the NSWCDD 5510.4 series.
  • Prevent tampering with or modification of alarm systems and report incidents immediately.
  • Ensure decals remain legible and request replacements when necessary.
  • Report moves and update SF-700 continuation sheets for new personnel access.
  • Maintain inventories of classified holdings, conduct semi-annual cleanouts, and ensure proper markings.
  • Ensure all documents and media are properly marked before storage.
  • Remove personnel who no longer require access.
  • Contact the Security Coordinator or Command Duty Officer when locks fail.
  • Turn over safe materials, such as change keys, to the Security Coordinator upon receipt.
  • Keep container tops clear and ensure their physical integrity.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a Custodian or Alternate Custodian in a Department of Defense or Navy environment.
  • Familiarity with SF-700, SF-701, and SF-702 forms and classified container management.
  • Ability to conduct alarm response coordination and incident reporting.
  • Experience with classified inventory management and semi-annual cleanout procedures.
  • A bachelor's degree.
