Requirements
  • 10+ years combined work experience in mechanical maintenance and/or construction is required
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • In-depth knowledge of skills requirements for the various types of mechanical crafts (e.g. scaffold builder, insulator, welder, boilermaker, etc.)
  • Detailed knowledge of site safety and OSHA rules and regulations
  • Experience in the administration of work permits including hot work, confined space permits, lock-out/tag-out permits, and crane and fire system impairment permits
  • General computer skills and competencies of analytical thinking, communication and interpersonal understanding, customer focus, entrepreneurial acting/initiative, team leadership/collaboration, results orientation, organization awareness, and change orientation/management
  • Understanding of best practices for maintenance processes including but not limited to Risk Based assessment, Total Productive Maintenance, and Reliability Based Inspections
  • Knowledge of SAP and how it is used to track costs and maintenance history (developmental skill)
Responsibilities
  • Manage the maintenance and construction contractors and oversee their performance, continuous improvement, and daily activities
  • Serve as the primary interface between the Corporation and the contractors
  • Provide technical expertise and consulting to users within the Attapulgus, GA facility
  • Provide field/shop supervision and quality assurance over contractor mechanical maintenance activities
  • Monitor contractors daily performance and verify workmanship, adherence to specifications, time sheets, productivity, and safety performance on the job at all times
  • Assist in trouble shooting mechanical equipment, diagnose problems, and determine necessary repairs and replacements
  • Support Planner in developing maintenance and capital craft work plans for contractors
  • Provide feedback on contractors’ and service provider’s performances, report on activities, resolve problems, and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in meetings with contractors’ management to review performance and investigate opportunities for improvement
  • Support site security needs as security representative including oversight of G4S
  • Ensure site contractor estimating standards are up to date with actual performance to enable accurate cost forecasting and control
  • Lead efforts to improve contractor productivity and safety performance, including contractor safety oversight
  • Coach and develop team members to reach their full potential

Desired Qualifications
  • Technology or trade school degree, or military technical training, is highly desirable
  • An understanding of best practices for maintenance processes including but not limited to Risk Based assessment, Total Productive Maintenance, and Reliability Based Inspections is an important technical competency (stated as requirement, but still could be listed as desirable in some postings)
  • Knowledge of SAP usage for tracking costs and maintenance history can be a developmental skill
  • Leadership expectations related items such as coaching, development, inclusive culture, safety culture can be considered desirable traits
