Citizens Bank sues SoFi over poaching 30 mortgage staff who generated $5M in revenue

Citizens Bank has sued SoFi, alleging the digital lender poached 30 mortgage employees since 2024, affecting operations across nine states. The lawsuit centres on two employee groups, particularly nine Connecticut-based staff who resigned in June within minutes of each other. Citizens claims SoFi "strategically orchestrated" the departures, which represented $400 million in closed loans and $5 million in revenue the previous year. The bank alleges employees transferred confidential client data before leaving. The Connecticut departures eliminated 70% of the branch's mortgage producers and 80% of mortgages, essentially wiping out Citizens' market presence there. Three additional Connecticut employees have since joined SoFi. A SoFi spokesperson called the lawsuit "a baseless allegation and a clever attempt to prevent Citizens employees from pursuing career opportunities elsewhere.

NewPower Worldwide expands credit facility to $750M to support global growth

NewPower Worldwide, an electronics distributor, has expanded its committed credit facility to $750 million. The increased capacity will enable the company to invest in inventory, support customer growth, and capitalise on global supply chain opportunities. Since its founding in 2014, NewPower has grown to 14 offices across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, with $5 billion in annual sales and more than $1 billion in inventory worldwide. The facility expansion strengthens the company's ability to purchase strategically and support large-scale customer requirements. Chief executive officer Carleton Dufoe said the expanded facility provides additional capacity to secure inventory and respond faster to market opportunities. Citizens led the increased credit facility to support NewPower's growth objectives. The New Hampshire-based company distributes electronic components and finished goods to OEMs, EMS providers, and supply chain partners worldwide.

Safety Insurance doubles credit facility to $100M, extends maturity to 2031

Safety Insurance Group has doubled its revolving credit facility with Citizens Bank to $100 million from $50 million, extending maturity to June 2031. The additional capacity remains undrawn, providing enhanced liquidity flexibility rather than immediate leverage. The expansion supports the property and casualty insurer's capital management programme, including dividends and share buybacks, though recent performance has been uneven with a Q1 2026 net loss. The company's investment case centres on disciplined underwriting and balance sheet conservatism rather than rapid profit growth. Analysts note profitability risks and relatively high valuation multiples compared to insurance peers. The Simply Wall St Community estimates fair value at $60.83 per share, suggesting current prices may be extended by 14%. The credit facility amendment provides a prudent backstop amid ongoing earnings volatility.
