Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in gearbox development with gas turbine designs or within aerospace is required.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design software such as CATIA or NX and analysis tools such as ANSYS is required.
  • Familiarity with materials, coatings, and heat treatment processes relevant to gearbox components is required.
  • Experience with aerospace standards and design practices is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with Dimensioning and Tolerancing ASME Y14.5-2009 (GD&T) is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with stack-up analysis is required.
Responsibilities
  • Design and develop gearbox systems for gas turbine engines.
  • Design gas turbine components for the powerhead, line-replaceable units, and other equipment.
  • Perform detailed mechanical design, including gear geometry, housing, bearings, seals, shafts, and lubrication systems.
  • Conduct load analysis, thermal analysis, finite element analysis, and fatigue studies to ensure mechanical integrity and performance comply with customer and airworthiness specifications.
  • Prepare and review engineering documentation, including 3D models, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Support testing and validation of gearbox components and systems.
  • Participate in root-cause investigations and provide corrective actions for development and in-service issues.
  • Interface with suppliers and subcontractors for build-to-print and build-to-specification components.
  • Follow up with other engineering groups to ensure the design performs as specified.
  • Coordinate with engineering and company departments to optimize the design within established constraints.
  • Build relationships with clients, partners, and the parent company's technical team.

  • Knowledge of lubrication systems, thermal management, and tribology.
  • Experience designing products that comply with airworthiness rules and aviation standards for commercial aircraft engines.
  • Understanding of aircraft Auxiliary Power Units and related systems.
  • Understanding of configuration management and design control.
