Requirements
  • A current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or a current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
  • Have less than 12 months of experience as a registered nurse.
  • Possess the interpersonal skills to communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict effectively.
  • Use competent clinical practice and critical thinking skills to efficiently deliver patient care with health care providers while maximizing efficient use of resources.
  • Be able to respond flexibly to changes in work volume, staffing, and schedules.
  • Be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions and adapt to varying workloads and assignments.
  • Complete annual education required for specialty accreditation when applicable.
  • Meet the physical requirements of the role, including lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials and equipment weighing 40 or more pounds.
  • Have visual acuity within the normal range.
  • Have hearing within the normal range to assess breath sounds, bowel sounds, apical pulse, and monitors.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care through the nursing process and use independent nursing judgment to achieve quality patient care outcomes.
  • Provide professional nursing care for patients in an inpatient hospital setting.
  • Demonstrate safety and continuity of care through documentation, handoff tools, and related processes.
  • Create plans of care using assessment, diagnoses, intervention, and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Recognize patient safety concerns through appropriate resources.
  • Provide education based on each patient's unique learning needs.
  • Incorporate patient individuality and mutuality data into care delivery.
  • Perform adequate patient assessment and documentation.
  • Use the teach-back method to evaluate the effectiveness of education.
  • Use Evidence-Based Practice in nursing care.
  • Participate in the organizational patient-centered care model.
  • Document problems and issues in the plan of care.
  • Develop the ability to care for more complex patients through consultation with experienced colleagues.
  • Maintain accountability for delegated nursing care.
  • Recognize the scope of practice of interprofessional team members.
  • Participate in holistic, culturally sensitive data collection.
  • Assess the impact of family dynamics on health care consumer health and wellness.
  • Apply the American Nurses Association code of ethics to nursing practice.
  • Identify discriminatory health care practices in culturally diverse populations.
  • Individualize care based on patients' beliefs, barriers, and readiness to learn.
  • Work protracted or irregular hours and around biohazards, infectious diseases, deceased persons, water, and electrical hazards associated with patient-care equipment.
