Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of direct transferable experience working in a laboratory, unless equivalent qualifications apply.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • A Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Knowledge of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards.
  • Ability to work with chemical, petrochemical, and petroleum products.
  • Ability to differentiate colors accurately by sight.
  • Ability to synthesize information from varied sources into solutions and work effectively under pressure while following SGS standards of ethics and integrity.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance numerous concurrent projects with different deadlines.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, including constant standing, moving, and hand use; frequent reaching, talking, and hearing; occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, smelling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling.
Responsibilities
  • Perform hands-on laboratory analysis of products including crude oil, fuel oils, middle distillates, petroleum, petrochemicals, liquefied petroleum gas, and liquefied natural gas.
  • Prepare analysis reports for the products tested.
  • Maintain current knowledge of laboratory safety and reporting techniques.
  • Provide guidance to laboratory technicians to maintain appropriate training levels among laboratory personnel, including supervisory duties when applicable.
  • Maintain current knowledge of laboratory analysis methods.
  • Operate gas chromatographs and other laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain dependable daily attendance and presence.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • A bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from individuals or groups within the organization.

SGS, the world's leading testing, inspection and certification company, has acquired a majority stake in Prescient Security, a US-based provider of information compliance and cybersecurity services. Prescient Security employs over 350 people and serves 5,000 customers worldwide, offering expertise in information security certification, penetration testing and compliance workflows across sectors including finance, healthcare and technology. The acquisition forms part of SGS's Digital Trust strategy, with the company targeting at least CHF 200 million in additional Digital Trust revenue by 2027 compared with 2023. Prescient Security supports major international standards including SOC2, ISO, PCI DSS and FedRAMP. SGS CEO Géraldine Picaud described the deal as a key milestone in expanding the company's Digital Trust platform and service portfolio.

SGS takes majority stake in US cybersecurity company Prescient Security. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Prescient Security employs more than 350 employees and serves around 5,000 customers worldwide, as SGS announced on Friday. The company specializes in information security, cybersecurity and compliance with regulatory requirements in the digital sector. Its customers include companies from the financial, healthcare, retail, technology and defense sectors. According to the information, the offering includes certifications in accordance with international security standards as well as so-called penetration tests, which are used to specifically check IT systems for vulnerabilities. Prescient Security also has its own technologies for automating compliance and security processes. With the acquisition, SGS is further expanding its strategic business segment "Digital Trust". The group, headquartered in Baar, aims to generate at least 200 million Swiss francs in additional revenue in this area by 2027 compared with 2023.

SGS launches $734.5M senior bond offering with 4.125% coupon

SGS SA launched a EUR 650 million senior bond offering on 22 September 2026. The bonds have a six-year maturity, due in 2032, and carry a 4.125% coupon. The bonds will be issued by SGS Finance BV and guaranteed by SGS SA. Proceeds are intended for general corporate purposes, including refinancing existing debt. Earlier in September, SGS received an EcoVadis Gold Medal, improving from its previous Silver rating. The company is scheduled to release its third-quarter 2026 sales update on 23 October 2026.
