  • Value documentation and process to support team scalability and onboarding.
  • Stay current with board design techniques, fabrication technologies, and test methodologies, and bring that knowledge back to the team.
Responsibilities
  • Lead a hardware engineering team that designs and delivers PCBs, custom test equipment, and thermal solutions for silicon validation programs.
  • Design and optimize high-speed, high-power PCBs that support SERDES validation, ensuring transmission line performance meets test requirements.
  • Work directly with board layouts and schematics to place test points, route signal paths, and enable validation engineers to characterize silicon performance.
  • Run PI and SI simulations using HFSS to extract models, predict board performance, and catch issues before fabrication.
  • Debug hardware in the lab using oscilloscopes, power meters, thermal cameras, and other test equipment to diagnose and resolve signal integrity and power delivery issues.
  • Document board bring-up procedures, test protocols, and screening steps so lab technicians can commission and validate test hardware consistently.
  • Drive continuous improvement in hardware design processes, test coverage, and lab infrastructure across validation programs.
  • Deliver reliable, high-performance hardware that enables the silicon validation team to meet product release schedules.
  • Build test setups that improve validation throughput, reduce debug cycles, and increase consistency across product families.
  • Create hardware solutions that are functional, reproducible, and ready for customer demonstrations and engagements.
  • Establish clear design standards, documentation practices, and knowledge transfer within the team.
  • Reduce board respins and fabrication delays by catching design issues early through simulation and design review rigor.
  • Ensure validation hardware meets performance, interoperability, and reliability requirements.
  • Contribute to the long-term scalability of validation infrastructure as product complexity and speed requirements increase.

About the company

Synopsys provides software tools and services for electronic design automation (EDA), helping engineers design, simulate, verify, and optimize semiconductor chips and systems. Its products cover the full design flow, including RTL-to-gating synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis, verification, and silicon validation, as well as software integrity solutions and hardware-assisted verification. Engineers use these tools to model, simulate, and validate complex chip designs before manufacturing, reducing bugs and improving performance. Compared with many competitors, Synopsys differentiates itself through its broad, end-to-end design toolchain, large ecosystem of IP and integration with simulation and modeling capabilities gained from its 2025 merger with ANSYS, and its global scale and support. The company aims to help designers push the boundaries of chip and system performance, accelerate time-to-market, and enable silicon-to-systems design across a wide range of industries.

What believers are saying

  • Synopsys raised fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to $11.15 billion on September 30, 2026.
  • Management targets roughly 50% operating margin by fiscal 2030 and $1 billion buybacks.
  • Ansys synergies finish early in fiscal 2027, supporting faster margin expansion.

What critics are saying

  • China export restrictions slowed new projects and cut IP revenue in 2026.
  • Synopsys cut 128 Sunnyvale jobs after prior 10% restructuring, signaling integration strain.
  • Customers like Samsung are building in-house manufacturing tools, threatening long-term lock-in.

What makes Synopsys unique

  • Synopsys and Ansys now span EDA, simulation, and silicon IP after July 2025.
  • Synopsys locked AWS into a $1 billion-plus IP deal on September 30, 2026.
  • GPT-Synopsys with OpenAI gives Synopsys proprietary AI workflows competitors lack.

Synopsys eyes $17B revenue by 2030 as AI shifts to profit gains, but valuation leaves little room

Synopsys could benefit as AI spending shifts from building data centres to boosting efficiency, one analyst argues. The chip-design software maker would be her pick through 2030. Synopsys signed a multi-year licensing deal worth more than $1 billion with Amazon for custom chip IP. Its $34.9 billion Ansys acquisition is expected to add $400 million in annualised revenue by fiscal 2029. Management targets 15% annual revenue growth through fiscal 2030, which would lift revenue to nearly $17 billion. Design IP revenue, however, fell 0.7% in the first nine months of fiscal 2026. Shares trade at about 27 times projected fiscal 2027 adjusted earnings. At 20 times 2030 earnings, the stock could reach about $745, or 46% upside; at 15 times, about $559, or 10%.

Synopsys and Siemens adopt Nvidia's CUDA-X libraries for chipmaking

Nvidia said Synopsys and Siemens are adopting its CUDA-X libraries for chipmaking. The announcement places Synopsys' adoption within a broader partnership with Nvidia on engineering and design. Nvidia said Siemens uses cuLitho for chip-pattern refinement and mask preparation. Siemens also works with Nvidia on industrial AI and manufacturing digital twins. Nvidia said cuPotential is available in early access. NanoVDB is open source within OpenVDB, while NPP is available through the CUDA Toolkit.

Synopsys stock surges 13% after $1B Amazon deal and upgraded FY27 guidance

Synopsys shares surged 13% to $491 following the chip-design software maker's Investor Day, where management announced fiscal 2027 revenue guidance of $11.10 billion to $11.20 billion and earnings per share of $19.04 to $19.12, significantly exceeding analyst estimates of $10.81 billion and $17.81 respectively. The company revealed a multi-year deal with Amazon Web Services worth more than $1 billion to licence chip-design intellectual property for custom silicon. CEO Sassine Ghazi noted that royalties will begin once designs reach production in approximately 14 months. Synopsys also announced a partnership with OpenAI to develop GPT-Synopsys, a chip-design model under a revenue-sharing agreement. The company raised its fiscal 2030 operating margin target to approximately 50% from the mid-40s and announced a $1 billion share buyback programme.
