Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, or three to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to two years of experience and/or training in aviation or cargo operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to two years of experience managing a team.
  • Ability to become trained and approved for required base-specific certifications, such as towing and deicing.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to pass company criminal and motor vehicle background checks, drug tests, and airport background check requirements; obtain and maintain an airport security badge; and remain insurable under applicable company insurance policies.
  • Excellent vision and coordination to move or direct aircraft and visually inspect aircraft fuel.
  • Ability to pass a color vision test for inspecting aviation fuel.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the jurisdiction of employment.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license; certain locations require a commercial driver's license according to local regulations and business needs.
  • Ability to assign tasks, provide performance feedback, administer corrective action, and motivate team members.
  • Excellent guest service skills and ability to anticipate guest needs, prioritize requests, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals in English for safety-sensitive tasks; communicate clearly in English in person, by telephone, radio, and in writing; and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Basic knowledge of operating budgets and profit and loss, including how margin, revenue, and cost affect the business.
  • Ability to use telephone, fax, two-way radio, email, and text messaging to communicate with guests, crew members, team members, and emergency personnel.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups, present information, and respond to inquiries.
  • Ability to physically enter, exit, and operate motor vehicles and ground support equipment, including fuel trucks, vans, tugs, freight handling equipment, and cars.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle variable situations with limited standardization, and interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule instructions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and serve guests.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and concentration.
  • Ability to use a computer and complete computer-based training modules.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and ability to learn company software.
  • Strong time management, project management, and organizational skills; ability to complete required company training programs on time.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee all business functions of the private aviation terminal, including service delivery, equipment and maintenance, facility condition, and staffing.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to maintain existing business and develop new business.
  • Ensure compliance with company and local, state, federal, and airport rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Act as the company liaison with the airport community.
  • Manage and direct subordinate leaders and team members, including scheduling, coordinating and assigning duties, conducting shift and team meetings, and managing special events.
  • Perform time and attendance administration and process new team members.
  • Lead base operations safely and efficiently according to established policies and standard operating procedures, ensuring accurate communication through multiple methods.
  • Manage team-member performance, correct deficiencies, and administer corrective action as needed.
  • Interview, onboard, train, and manage team members while supporting their engagement and development.
  • Ensure airline-required training is administered and completed by team members.
  • Serve as a resource for guest service matters and an escalation point for guest inquiries.
  • Provide on-site business development support and relationship management with residents.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the company's facilities, services, website, surrounding areas, and information commonly requested by guests.
  • Coordinate with team members, guests, visitors, company departments, and external parties to ensure services and information are handled promptly and accurately.
  • Perform ramp operations as needed for guests, clients, vendors, and aircraft crews.
  • Ensure team members prepare for arriving and departing aircraft, complete open tasks, correct safety concerns, conduct safety observations, and document them.
  • Assist with or manage regulatory compliance, audits, and reporting for airport or government parties.
  • Manage base supplies, uniforms, and equipment inventory according to procurement and expense procedures.
  • Maintain security of the premises, including street-side areas, parking lots, terminals, hangars, and the airport operations area.
  • Oversee ground support equipment and facility maintenance operations.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and secure ramps and operations.
  • Conduct accident investigations to determine root causes and complete incident reporting.
  • Administer Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental software.
  • Understand, comply with, and enforce operational, safety, and guest service requirements.
  • Stop work when unsafe conditions or acts could harm people, the environment, company or guest assets, or the company's reputation.
  • Follow emergency response procedures during critical events.
  • Understand, comply with, and enforce company and airport physical, cyber, and data security protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of team-member work time, activities, and services; oversee payroll and compliance when assigned.
