Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least five years of commercial construction industry experience overseeing all aspects of ground-up projects in healthcare, financial, and light industrial sectors.
  • Ability to lead and supervise teams, coordinate multiple teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders, schedule multi-tasking work, and manage all aspects of large commercial projects through completion.
  • A Construction OSHA 30 card obtained within the last five years, or the ability to renew it; a valid OSHA 30 card must be maintained while working on company projects, with recertification every five years.
  • Proficiency in project reporting software, Microsoft Office, blueprint reading, and Procore; basic computer literacy is required.
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, quality standards, and the permit process in communities where work is performed.
  • Experience managing large ground-up projects, interior renovations, finish work, and relocation and replacement work on projects valued at $2 million or more.
  • A high school diploma is the minimum education requirement; a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or an associate's degree from a vocational school is a plus.
  • A minimum of five to ten years of on-the-job experience is required.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites, with travel required up to 75%.
  • Ability to work extended hours and night shifts, and to perform physical work at indoor and outdoor construction sites, including climbing stairs and ladders, negotiating active work areas, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Ability to perform the physical activities described, including sitting, standing, walking, crawling, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and operating mobile devices and business equipment.
  • Ability to work in construction environments with exposure to weather, mechanical parts, heights, fumes or airborne particles, potential toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock, vibration, and occasional loud noise; personal protective equipment and appropriate safety gear are required.
Responsibilities
  • Enforce OSHA requirements and the company safety plan and policies, and advocate for jobsite safety.
  • Supervise field construction to ensure projects meet design, budget, schedule, and customer objectives.
  • Conduct weekly on-site meetings with subcontractors, vendors, and others regarding schedule, safety, and field performance.
  • Enforce project procedures, safety program requirements, and work rules, and ensure worker health and safety by enforcing company, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Prepare and distribute timely field reports, including daily superintendent and safety reports.
  • Complete punch list items within customer requirements and project budget, using Procore for punch list management.
  • Monitor and direct subcontractor progress, and ensure adequate manpower to meet the project schedule and customer expectations.
  • Prepare subcontractor work schedules as needed and provide input to the Project Manager on construction schedule preparation and updates.
  • Verify layouts or check subcontractor layouts, and establish initial control lines and grades.
  • Clarify project-document and work-related questions for subcontractors, provide documentation, and coordinate with the Construction Manager as appropriate.
  • Participate in pre-construction planning, including logistics, means and methods, bid and scope reviews, and project estimates.
  • Maintain an up-to-date set of contract documents on site and ensure subcontractors maintain record drawings during construction.
  • Organize, establish, and maintain the on-site field office in an orderly and professional condition.
  • Communicate timely with the Construction Manager about financial issues, safety, construction progress, labor, materials, quality, and code issues.
  • Coordinate and work with Project Managers and other personnel, and collaborate with other Superintendents assigned to larger projects.
  • Manage and oversee other Superintendent levels, provide training, and mentor them.
  • Continue education in OSHA and safety, means and methods, codes, management skills, and new technology.
  • Maintain current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local permit processes and communicate changes to the office.
  • Maintain overall jobsite cleanliness to company standards.
