Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related discipline.
  • For the Mental Health Counselor - Senior Professional level, six or more years of relevant experience are required.
  • For the Mental Health Counselor - Advanced Professional level, three or more years of relevant experience are required.
  • A Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker license issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors is required.
  • Ability to provide services to a wide range of students.
  • Ability to work in person from August through May.
  • Ability to provide individual and group counseling, conduct comprehensive intakes, and develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.
  • Skills in clinical triage and crisis management, including providing immediate support and determining appropriate disposition for students in distress.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, participate in case consultations, and coordinate care with psychiatric and medical providers.
  • Ability to serve on university committees including the Behavioral Threat Management Team, CARE Team, and Committee for Substance Awareness and Prevention.
  • Experience developing and delivering wellness initiatives and outreach activities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate clinical records and documentation using electronic medical record systems while preserving confidentiality.
  • Judgment and problem-solving skills related to risk management, ethical standards, and campus safety.
  • Communication and relational skills sufficient to build trust with students and partnerships with faculty, staff, and external referral sources.
  • Adherence to trauma-informed care and healing-centered approaches.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint criminal background check.
Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical services to students through individual and group counseling, comprehensive intakes, and individualized treatment planning.
  • Provide clinical triage and crisis management, including immediate support and appropriate disposition for students in distress.
  • Participate in case consultations and coordinate care with psychiatric and medical providers.
  • Serve on the Behavioral Threat Management Team, CARE Team, and Committee for Substance Awareness and Prevention.
  • Develop and deliver wellness initiatives and outreach activities.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in electronic medical record systems.
  • Manage clinical risk in accordance with ethical standards and campus safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Athletics, Residence Life, faculty, staff, and external referral sources to support student mental health.
  • Promote inclusion, belonging, trauma-informed care, and healing-centered approaches in campus mental health services.
