Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, technology, video design, or a related field with a television broadcast background is required; an additional five years of experience, relevant training, and certifications may substitute for the degree.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a professional television broadcast environment installing, operating, and repairing television equipment is required.
  • Ability to design and repair advanced analog and digital broadcast systems.
  • Strong background with test and measurement equipment, waveform monitors, vector scopes, digital radio-frequency meters, and projection calibration.
  • Background repairing and maintaining fiber transmission and distribution equipment.
  • Experience repairing and calibrating broadcast studio cameras, master control switchers, playout servers, routing switchers, and editing systems.
  • Experience repairing and designing audio routing switchers, production consoles, and wireless microphones.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of current television production equipment.
  • Advanced experience with computers, interactive equipment, and computer-driven digital and analog production equipment.
  • Ability to read schematics and repair manuals.
  • Availability to cover day, night, and weekend hours as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair all technical aspects of control rooms.
  • Design and upgrade major audio/visual and broadcast systems across the enterprise.
  • Oversee maintenance of broadcast systems and live productions enterprise-wide.
  • Provide engineering support for key executive events.
  • Evaluate, install, maintain, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on advanced audio/visual systems, control rooms, television equipment, studio equipment, field gear, and related systems.
  • Assist the manager with the design and upgrades of major audio/visual and broadcast systems.
  • Work with manufacturers and vendors to obtain replacement parts and manage inventory.
  • Supervise freelance personnel during studio and remote television productions, providing training and assistance with equipment and systems.
  • Create and maintain databases and documentation for equipment and systems.
Desired Qualifications
  • Automation programming certification, Level 2 programming preferred.
  • CTS-I certification preferred.
  • Technical certification such as Federal Communications Commission, Society of Broadcast Engineers, or Certified Technology Specialist certification preferred.
