About the Company

Semafor

Digital news outlet with Semaform structure

Semafor is a digital news outlet that serves a global audience of college-educated English-speaking professionals through a website and newsletters covering global affairs, U.S. politics, business, technology, Africa, and the Middle East. It uses a proprietary Semaform article structure that separates facts and analysis into labeled sections like The News, The Reporter’s View, Room for Disagreement, The View From, and Notable to show how a story is built. Revenue comes from direct-sold advertising and a strong events business, with events delivering high margins, while subscriptions are planned for the future and access is currently free. Its goal is to restore trust in journalism by providing transparent, multi-perspective reporting and a sustainable mix of advertising, events, and evolving subscription income.
