Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship or Green Card holder status is required.
  • At least 12 years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale backbone networks, including global-scale architecture ownership.
  • Deep expertise in IP/MPLS core technologies, including IS-IS, MP-BGP, segment routing (SR-MPLS/SRv6), PE/P architectures, MPLS-TE, VRFs, DDoS mitigation, and CDN.
  • Deep expertise in optical transport, including DWDM, coherent optics (400G/800G), ROADM architectures, amplifier design (EDFA/Raman), dispersion management, and alien wavelengths.
  • Strong grounding in cloud networking, including direct connectivity, multi-cloud routing, and hybrid cloud at scale across AWS, GCP, OCI, Azure, and neoclouds such as CoreWeave and Cerebras.
  • Working depth in adjacent infrastructure domains, including virtualization, containers, databases, message queuing, and large-scale provisioning, sufficient to architect across boundaries.
  • Proven ability to establish network automation and infrastructure-as-code strategy.
  • Familiarity with applying frontier and open-weight AI models to network operations, including telemetry analysis, automated triage, ChatOps tooling, and self-hosting open-weight models where data sensitivity requires it.
  • Experience operating or architecting networks within FedRAMP-authorized environments.
  • Track record of selecting, testing, and deploying networking hardware and software organization-wide across major vendors such as Juniper, Infinera, Nokia, Arista, and Cisco.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities
  • Own the IP and optical architecture for the global backbone, including connectivity to traditional and neocloud providers.
  • Set the multi-year roadmap for network evolution, including traffic engineering strategy, capacity planning, and demand forecasting for the network.
  • Drive key business initiatives from funding case through implementation and long-term operational stewardship.
  • Serve as the senior escalation resource in the 24x7 on-call rotation when an incident exceeds the depth of the engineers already handling it.
  • Own platform selection for routing and optical hardware, working directly with vendor engineering teams to influence their roadmaps.
  • Engage director- and vice president-level stakeholders across datacenter, application, and business teams to keep network strategy ahead of company growth.
  • Set the direction for network automation and infrastructure-as-code, including Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, and GitOps.
  • Set the direction for telemetry and analytics strategy, including use of frontier and open-weight AI models for telemetry analysis and automated triage while keeping sensitive backbone data in-house.
  • Raise the organization's technical bar by reviewing senior engineers' designs, setting standards, and mentoring engineers toward this level.

About the company

CrowdStrike builds cybersecurity software for organizations that need to protect computers, cloud workloads, identities and data from digital attacks. Its Falcon platform combines these defenses in one cloud system, using a lightweight sensor on devices to collect activity and detect suspicious behavior. Security teams investigate alerts and automate responses through a shared console, while the platform connects information from different parts of a business to reveal attacks that isolated tools miss. Customers pay subscription fees based on the products and assets covered, and CrowdStrike also charges for incident response services. CrowdStrike was founded in 2011 and is based in Austin, Texas.
