About the job
- A high school diploma or General Educational Development credential is required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience of three years as a Medical Assistant is required.
- Current Basic Life Support or cardiopulmonary resuscitation training is required.
- Participate in patient care in person, by telephone for phone screening, and through telehealth under provider supervision and within applicable state laws and scope of practice.
- Perform functions delegated by providers and Registered Nurses, including administering prescribed medications, treatments, and immunizations; conducting point-of-care testing; and collecting and handling specimens within the applicable scope of practice.
- Collect and screen patients’ medical histories and health-related information and communicate findings to providers.
- Communicate provider advice, instructions, and the plan of care to patients.
- Document care activities in the medical record, including procedures, interventions, patient and family communication, and test results, accurately and in detail.
- One year of experience in a medical practice or healthcare setting is preferred.
