Requirements

Industry experience in operations or a similar field is required.
Strong knowledge of production operations and processes is required.
Knowledge of P&IDs, PFDs, and UFDs is required.
Ability to read shutdown logic diagrams is required.
A high standard of Safety, Health, and Environment aptitude is required, along with the ability to cultivate it in others.
Excellent oral and written communication in English is required.
Good interpersonal and motivational skills are required.
Ability to interact in a multicultural environment is required.
Advanced understanding and operation of Emergency Preparedness Procedures is required.
Good knowledge of safety management tools and processes, including Permit to Work, Step Back 5x5, Job Safety Analysis, and Risk Assessment, is required.
Understanding of the Controls Integrity Management System, safety management tools, Production Operations Best Practices, and Planning and Budgeting processes is required.
Must meet all conditional job-offer requirements.

Responsibilities

Work cooperatively with contractor personnel to prepare and maintain a safe work environment for their work.
Participate in Operations Emergency Response activities relating to the area.
Provide support and coordination to the Systems Completion team during facility start-up and commissioning.
Review work packages for planned maintenance activities within the allocated area, confirm that isolation requirements are applied, and ensure equipment preparation provides a safe working environment.
Endorse Work Permits as the Area Operator and, when required, as the Isolating Authority.
Encourage teamwork between Maintenance and Operations groups.
Support work prioritization to maximize effectiveness and complement the efforts of other work groups.
Keep the Control Room Technician informed and consulted about operations and major issues.
Ensure good communication between areas so issues can be addressed and actions completed.
Maintain good housekeeping in the allocated area and a high standard of plant housekeeping.
Maintain a daily log and shift-changeover notes.
Safely perform physical tasks as needed, including moving drums of chemicals and lifting or climbing ladders, silos, and tanks.
Perform minor equipment maintenance as needed.
Make process changes to ensure end products meet accepted quality-control standards.
Liaise with the Control Room Technician and other Operations Technicians on job safety requirements to ensure understanding of work objectives and safety, health, environmental, Operations Integrity Management System, and security concerns.
Support the Control Room Technician and Operations Supervisor in overseeing area activities and ensuring they are integrated and conducted safely and efficiently.
Work in a crew environment to manage activities involved in the safe and efficient operation of plant units and sulfur recovery operations.
Perform equipment surveillance.

Overview

Responsible for liaising with the Control Room Technician (CRT) and other Operations Technicians on job safety requirements to ensure understanding of the work objectives, safety, health, environmental, Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) and security concerns. Responsible for supporting the CRT/Ops Supervisor in providing oversight of the area activities and ensuring they are integrated and conducted in a safe and efficient manner. Works in a crew environment to manage activities involved with safe and efficient operation of all plant units and sulfur recovery operations. Performs surveillance of equipment.

Ensuring the CRT is informed and consulted about operations and major issues
Ensures good communication between Areas so that issues can be adequately addressed and actions completed
Responsible for maintaining good housekeeping in allocated Area

Qualifications

Industry experience in operations, or similar; required
Very knowledgeable in production operations/processes
Knowledgeable in P&IDs, PFD’s and UFD’s
Able to read shutdown logic diagrams
Highest standard of Safety, Health, Environment aptitude and cultivates the same in others
Excellent communications (oral & written) in English
Good interpersonal and motivation skills
Ability to interact in a multi-cultural environment
Advanced understanding and operation of Emergency Preparedness Procedures
