Blue Owl Technology Finance issues $400M in 6.5% notes due 2029, adds $250M credit facility

Blue Owl Technology Finance Corp. issued an additional $400 million of 6.500% notes due 2029 on 20 August 2026, bringing total outstanding notes to $900 million. The notes were sold at 98.657% of par and mature on 15 October 2029. The company will use proceeds to pay down existing debt, including amounts drawn under its senior secured revolving credit facility. The refinancing replaces shorter-dated, floating-rate borrowings with fixed-rate debt, though the 6.500% coupon represents a significant increase over the revolver's current spread. Separately, subsidiary Athena Funding IV LLC secured a new $250 million revolving credit facility on 14 August 2026. The facility bears interest at SOFR plus 2.25%, matures in August 2036, and includes a two-year reinvestment period.

Blue Owl BDC reports $747M in repayments as refinancing activity 'grinds to a halt' in Q2

Blue Owl Capital Corporation reported subdued investment activity in Q2, attributing the slowdown to depressed deal flow and a sharp decline in refinancing transactions. President Logan Nicholson said refinancing activity, which previously comprised 50% to 75% of quarterly volume, has "grind to a halt" amid spread widening. The lender reported $219 million in gross fundings against $747 million in repayments. Its portfolio fair value declined to $15.0 billion from $16.9 billion a year earlier. Blue Owl recorded $99.4 million in net unrealised losses, primarily from markdowns on Loparex Group loans moved to non-accrual. Second-lien loans were marked at 5 cents on the dollar, down from 63 cents. The lender also realised a $62.4 million loss on Walker Edison Furniture Company.
