BlackSky provides real-time geospatial intelligence by operating a constellation of small satellites that monitor strategic locations and global events. Users access an analytics platform to request on-demand imagery and receive automated data insights about specific economic or security assets. Unlike competitors that may only photograph a site once every few days, BlackSky captures images many times per day to show changes as they happen. The company's goal is to provide a live, high-frequency view of the world to help organizations make immediate decisions during disasters or security threats.

BlackSky Technology 31% undervalued after Q2 revenue surges 50% and guidance reaffirmed

BlackSky Technology reported second quarter 2026 results showing 50.1% year-over-year revenue growth and a narrower loss whilst reaffirming full-year revenue guidance of $130 million to $150 million. The stock rebounded sharply following the announcement, with a one-day return of 10.37% and seven-day return of 23.73%. Despite recent volatility, including a 29.56% decline over 90 days, the share price has delivered a 33.48% year-to-date return and 61.48% one-year total shareholder return. At $27.79 per share, analysts suggest the stock could be 31.4% undervalued against a fair value estimate of $40.50. The company's Gen-3 satellite constellation ramp-up is driving demand and contract expansion. However, execution and funding risks remain, particularly around capital requirements and early access contract conversion rates.

BlackSky unveils Gen-3 AI ISR solutions. Multiple US R & D contracts to advance customer automated target recognition capabilities and integrate battle damage detection into Gen-3 architecture July 8, 2026 BlackSky Technology won a series of U.S. R & D contracts to develop and field mission-critical Gen-3 AI solutions that enhance customers' ability to conduct real-time, space-based tactical ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) operations. "BlackSky continues to lead the commercial space-based intelligence industry by deploying proprietary, high-performance AI detection and identification algorithms directly into our customer's classified mission environment," said Brian O'Toole, BlackSky CEO. "Continued U.S. investments across BlackSky's advanced, purpose-built space-based AI solutions reflect strong alignment between our technical roadmap and the nation's current and future operational needs." "BlackSky's commercial AI capabilities are adding machine speed to our customers' space-based intelligence decision loop, compressing time and increasing the accuracy of strategic and tactical assessments, during live operations," said O'Toole. Under one contract BlackSky will leverage proven, high-performance AI-enabled object detection and identification algorithms to mature space-based automated target recognition capabilities within the customer's classified workflow. BlackSky will also continue to develop AI-enabled Battle Damage Detection analytics as a feature of its commercial Gen-3 offering. Automated battle damage analytics help decision makers quickly evaluate the physical and functional damage inflicted on targets during military operations. The Gen-3 constellation delivers industry-leading, best-in-class 35-centimeter imagery resolution with AI-driven analytics. The sharpness of imagery provides tactical visual clarity, reduces classification ambiguities, and reduces human analysts' cognitive load. The entire Gen-3 constellation has consistently delivered images with remarkable clarity and uniform quality, detailing vehicles, maritime vessels, and aircraft of various sizes, as well as individual people and their shadows.
