Nutrient offers a cross-platform document processing platform for developers and enterprises. It began as PSPDFKit, providing SDKs to render, view, annotate, edit, sign, and convert PDFs and Office documents, and now unifies these capabilities into an intelligent document processing suite with AI features, low-code tools, and workflow automation across web, mobile, server, and cloud. Developers integrate Nutrient’s SDKs into apps via APIs to render and manipulate documents, enabling viewing, annotation, form filling, signing, conversion, and automated document workflows. By combining a long, bootstrapped profitability history with a broad enterprise-grade SDK and a unified platform through acquisitions, Nutrient aims to let developers build apps that handle documents while enabling AI-driven automation and low-code business workflows.

What believers are saying

  • Nutrient reported 157 remote team members and 3,000+ organizations in 2026.
  • Q2 2026 product updates added Python SDK, AI Assistant editing, and Workflow governance.
  • Trust Center claims 15% of Global 500 and 1 billion annual document interactions.

What critics are saying

  • Apryse and Adobe attack the same SDK buyers, squeezing pricing and renewals by 2026.
  • Nutrient’s AI features rely on OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Bedrock, and Anthropic integrations.
  • If Salesforce, Microsoft, or ServiceNow builds native document tools, Nutrient’s wedge erodes fast.

What makes Nutrient unique

Nutrient launches Data Extraction API for production-ready document AI with source grounding

Nutrient has launched its Data Extraction API, a document parsing service that transforms PDFs, scans, images, and Office files into structured data. The API parses documents into spatial JSON or Markdown and extracts schema-defined fields with confidence signals and citations linking back to source material. The service offers four processing modes—text, structure, understand, and agentic—allowing teams to optimise for speed, cost, or depth. Each extracted value includes a bounding box, page reference, source blocks, and confidence signal. Fields with uncertain matches can be routed to human review. Nutrient reports 0.932 overall accuracy on a 200-document benchmark corpus. The API is generally available via REST, with new accounts receiving 5,000 free credits monthly. The platform is SOC 2 Type 2 audited and uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.

Nutrient launches Documents for Salesforce, consolidating document lifecycle inside CRM

Nutrient has launched Documents for Salesforce, a natively built solution consolidating the entire document lifecycle—generation, editing, redaction and signing—inside Salesforce. The platform eliminates fragmentation caused by disconnected tools that typically handle quotes, contracts and agreements outside the CRM. The solution enables administrators to build templates using merge fields and conditional logic, pulling live data from Salesforce objects. Users can review and edit PDFs and DOCX files within Salesforce, whilst redaction and signature capabilities keep all workflows on the record. The platform aligns with Salesforce permissions and produces audit-ready document history. The solution aims to reduce tool sprawl, tighten governance and accelerate deal cycles for sales, legal and compliance teams. Nutrient Documents for Salesforce is available now.

Nutrient's AI Assistant automates multi-step document workflows with new editing agent

Nutrient has announced a major update to its AI Assistant, introducing a document editing agent that autonomously plans and executes multi-step document workflows. The agent operates within Nutrient's Viewer SDK, using purpose-built tools for rendering, extraction, form operations, annotation and redaction. The system allows organisations to define custom skills and three-tier approval policies governing what the agent can do autonomously, what requires confirmation, and what is prohibited. Edits are staged for review before permanent application, maintaining human oversight. The solution targets document-heavy industries including legal, financial services, construction, healthcare and government. The agent integrates with major LLM providers including OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock and Anthropic Claude. The document editing agent is now available in Nutrient's Web Viewer SDK, with mobile platform support planned for later in 2026.
