About the job
- A bachelor's degree with Athletic Training certification from the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers is required.
- A Basic Life Support card issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross for Healthcare Providers is required.
- Current Wisconsin athletic training licensure or registration as an athletic trainer in Wisconsin, or the ability to obtain it, is required.

- Submit a bi-weekly injury log to the sports medicine physician and manager.
- Collaborate with providers to assess diagnoses accurately, implement rehabilitation plans, and provide an optimal patient experience.
- Communicate with physicians, staff, coaches, and athletes' parents.
- Rehabilitate and appropriately progress athletic injuries and illnesses with supporting documentation.
- Provide emergency care and on-field evaluations.
- Participate in outreach activities, including covering school contracts and events and engaging in sports medicine outreach outside the clinic setting.
- Navigate patient care throughout the health system.
- Plan, schedule, and implement pre-operative and post-operative appointments and procedures for navigated patients.
- Serve as the central point of contact for navigated patients, including interactions with Primary Care, Orthopedics, Rehabilitation, and the Preoperative Education Registered Nurse.
- Manage the surgery schedule and coordinate with the surgery scheduler to finalize the schedule.
- Collect and report patient data on barriers, healthcare, medications, and prior treatments.
- Provide direct patient care, education, and follow-up.
- Manage orthopedic referral work queues.
- Contact patients at designated intervals as an informational resource.
- Provide education materials.
- Manage orthopedic phone calls and messages.
- At least two years of experience is preferred but not required.
- Membership in the National Athletic Trainers' Association is preferred.
