Requirements
  • Licensure in one or more fields such as electrical, plumbing, and general construction is required.
  • A clean New York State driver's license is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least five years of experience in renovation, construction, and building maintenance for a large-scale employer with multiple sites, including at least two years functioning in a supervisory capacity, is required.
  • Working knowledge of all phases of building trades and general knowledge of building repair and maintenance are required, including maintenance and repair of electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; fire safety systems; carpentry; masonry; and tile.
  • Background in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and fire safety systems is required.
  • Familiarity with housing building and safety codes is required.
  • Ability to use common tools, materials, and equipment, climb ladders and scaffolds, and work from either is required.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, is required.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple sites and respond to facilities-related emergencies outside normal business hours is required.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain the property in good condition and comply with building codes, licensure requirements, and certifying-body physical plant requirements.
  • Supervise maintenance and custodial workers and the Projects Team to complete in-house repairs, alterations, and projects.
  • Monitor or assist with contract compliance for physical-plant projects performed by outside contractors.
  • Perform necessary repairs as needed.
  • Train subordinate staff and participate in hiring, disciplining, appraising, and terminating staff.
  • Maintain, understand, and utilize specific service contractors.
  • Devise and execute a plan to keep sites within agency expectations.
  • Maintain a schedule of general maintenance, cleaning, and facility repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and respond to emergencies.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
