Requirements
  • A current Nursing Assistant license in the State of New Hampshire is required.
  • Basic Life Support authorization is preferred or must be obtained within 90 days of the date of hire.
  • At least 6 months of experience as a Licensed Nursing Assistant is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse and within the scope of practice of a Licensed Nursing Assistant.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide personal care and emotional support.
  • Perform clinical tasks within the scope of Licensed Nursing Assistant practice in accordance with system policies and procedures.
  • Report observations, symptoms, deviations from normal, and changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
  • Perform routine and emergency phlebotomy.
  • Complete rhythm analysis and interpretation, post rhythm strips, and communicate rhythm changes and vital-sign abnormalities to the primary and charge nurses.
  • Maintain telemetry alarm notification logs and ensure communication devices are functioning, assigned, distributed, and returned appropriately.
  • Communicate effectively with visitors, callers, physicians, staff from other departments, and other appropriate parties.
  • Greet visitors, determine the purpose of their visit, and respond or refer them to the appropriate staff member.
  • Update and maintain patient assignment boards, census change sheets, patient lists, daily communication-device lists, and unit secretary task lists.
  • Transcribe and enter orders and data accurately and in a timely manner as verified by the registered nurse.
  • Assemble admission charts, prepare transfer charts, and disassemble and reorganize charts upon discharge before forwarding them to medical records.
  • Coordinate completion of patient death certificates by contacting appropriate parties.
  • Schedule, track, and ensure the timeliness of diagnostic testing and obtain insurance authorization for diagnostic testing.
  • Schedule follow-up clinic appointments and coordinate weekly treatment visits for physicians and registered nurses.
  • Review patient charts before visits, obtain updated medication lists, and coordinate needed services and referrals.
  • Track missed appointments, notify patients to reschedule, and send certified notices for repeated missed appointments according to protocol.
  • Assist physicians with physical examinations and procedures and prepare the necessary equipment.
  • Stock and clean examination rooms, replace expired items, and manage linen inventory and distribution.
  • Order departmental clinical supplies in the Lawson system, track bulk-store and MDS supplies, and recommend adjustments to par levels.
  • Maintain constant visual observation of patients receiving remote visual monitoring.
  • Participate in handoffs during shift changes or when admitting new patients to the monitoring system.
  • Verbally redirect patients when necessary and provide explanations without counseling or offering opinions.
  • Follow infection-prevention and universal-precaution policies and incorporate safety principles, policies, and procedures into daily practice.
  • Maintain confidentiality, patient privacy, and patient dignity.
Desired Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support authorization is preferred.
