PHI Air Medical & Allegiance Mobile Health open third HEMS base in Texas in less than a year.

PHI Air Medical & Allegiance Mobile Health open third HEMS base in Texas in less than a year. Estimated reading time 3 minutes, 42 seconds. PHI Air Medical, a leading U.S. helicopter-based medical transport provider, announces the opening of a third air medical base in Texas, in cooperation with Allegiance Mobile Health. The new base in Livingston opened in July, less than a year after the partnership opened the first two emergency air medical bases in Kirbyville and Bay City. The expansion of air medical services across Southern Texas, along with the new eastern opening in Livingston, showcases the success of the PHI Air Medical and Allegiance Mobile Health partnership, and their shared commitment to provide gold-standard air medical emergency care services for communities in rural and underserved communities across Southern and Eastern Texas. "These base openings are more than just new locations on a map. They bring first-time access to critical emergency air medical care and faster response times within local communities, a key part of our commitment to the health and safety of people in Texas," says Paul Julander, Co-President at PHI Health. "In a patient's most vulnerable moment, our purpose is simple - deliver excellence-in the provision of emergency care. It's what drives our teams, and it's what continues to fuel the growth of this partnership across Texas." Since opening less than a year ago in November 2025, the Kirbyville base has brought emergency response services across Jasper County and neighboring communities in Southeast Texas. Just three months later, in February 2026, the successful cooperative expanded critical care coverage for local communities along the Gulf Coast region with the opening of the Bay City base. The new Livingston base will further extend access to advanced air medical services for residents across East Texas. Each base is equipped to provide advanced care transport capabilities, with highly trained clinical staff across all three Texas bases that are trained to handle specialist equipment including, intra-aortic balloon pumps, fetal heart tone monitor, high-flow oxygen, impella, isolette, and whole blood on board. The full set of specialist capabilities cover, Critical Care Transport, RSI & Advanced Airway Management, Comprehensive Care Guidelines, Hamilton T1, High-Risk OB Services with EFM Monitoring, Third-ride capability, Pediatric safety restraint device, and Lucas CPR device. Together, the result is an air medical program focused on excellence, skill, compassion, and safety for Texas communities. The partnership leverages the strengths of both organizations. PHI Air Medical provides decades of aviation and air medical expertise, aircraft operations, maintenance support, clinical education, and safety leadership. The Allegiance Mobile Health team is deep-rooted in the Texas EMS network, delivering extensive local knowledge and operational leadership and clinical excellence trained to PHI standards. As Texas communities continue to grow, both PHI Air Medical and Allegiance Mobile Health are committed to expanding the network and improving emergency medical infrastructure and access across the region. PHI Health sues Anthem for $30m in unpaid reimbursement awards.

PHI Health sues Anthem for $30m in unpaid reimbursement awards. News release. INDIANAPOLIS - PHI Health has sued Anthem, alleging the insurer has failed to pay more than $30 million in reimbursement awards owed to the air-ambulance provider after federal arbitration proceedings. The lawsuit centers on roughly 1,200 arbitration determinations that PHI says have been finalized but remain unpaid. Under the federal No Surprises Act, an independent arbitrator resolves payment disputes between insurers and out-of-network providers, with the resulting payment determination intended to be binding. PHI alleges Anthem routinely exceeds the law's 30-day deadline for making payments after arbitration decisions. The company claims the delays allow Anthem to reduce expenses and retain funds that should have been paid to providers, potentially generating additional interest. The lawsuit also alleges Anthem uses delayed or withheld payments as leverage to pressure air-ambulance providers into accepting lower in-network reimbursement rates. PHI further claims Anthem has encouraged plan sponsors to disregard payment obligations. PHI is asking a federal judge to enforce the arbitration awards and order Anthem to pay more than $1 million in interest associated with delayed payments. The company argues that allowing insurers to disregard binding arbitration decisions would undermine the federal dispute-resolution system. Anthem's parent company, Elevance Health, has said the arbitration process includes strict eligibility requirements and that it will continue defending itself while seeking reforms to the system. Elevance provides health coverage to tens of millions of Americans and reported nearly $200 billion in revenue last year.
