Requirements
  • A minimum of 6 years of increasingly responsible maintenance experience in executive housekeeping, facilities, or custodial management, including 6 years managing and/or supervising others; equivalent education and experience may substitute, but 6 years managing and supervising others is required.
  • A valid driver's license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
  • Fundamental knowledge of park or campus operations or custodial/facility management using modern practices.
  • Ability to provide clear and direct oral and written communication.
  • Ability to use critical thinking to prioritize issues, coordinate multiple projects, and solve problems.
  • Knowledge of computer equipment and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform heavy physical labor daily in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day cleaning and maintenance operations for public restrooms, visitor centers, and staff areas.
  • Onboard new staff and lead training in customer service, safety, and cleaning standards and techniques.
  • Organize staff work and vehicle schedules to meet daily and weekly workloads and projects.
  • Manage waste collection, recycling, and transport for all facilities.
  • Conduct facility inspections, document conditions, and assign maintenance and repair tasks through a computer-based work-order system.
  • Monitor productivity, compliance, and work-assignment status, taking appropriate action to build staff accountability.
  • Provide regular feedback using established performance standards to support staff development.
  • Participate in and lead staff meetings and training sessions covering information sharing, safety procedures, and team building.
  • Collaborate with the manager on hiring, performance reviews, and staff discipline, and recommend improvements.
  • Perform the manager's duties during the manager's absence.
  • Coordinate with other departments on emergency response, events, and general park use.
  • Collaborate with other Assistant Managers and Park Operations departments to achieve work-plan goals.
  • Report malfunctioning fixtures, safety hazards, and quality-of-life issues through the computer-based work-order system.
  • Interact professionally with park patrons and support staff during interactions or emergencies.
  • Perform and use inspections to plan and execute an annual facilities-maintenance plan and schedule.
  • Use computer-based management systems for work orders, asset and vehicle management, purchasing, inventory and expense monitoring, scheduling, timekeeping, budget control, and inspections.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure proper care and storage of tools, carts, equipment, and supplies.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies, including storms and snow events.
  • Remove litter, clean facilities, remove snow, and perform other related tasks as needed.
